OcTobler Phone Favorites

Here's this month's round up of phone favs.

This little girl is getting SO big SO fast! She is super easy for the most part but when she's having a rough day it is rough. She is totally my shadow and still calls me Mama, which is fine by me. 

This car was in the OB/GYN parking lot and it made me laugh. 

Sometimes they behave at the Dr's office. 

This is where Bear lives! He is obsessed with trains right now. 

Mrs. Cole gave Duke a clown nose at the end of one of his sessions. I was totally cracking up.

Every year I fall in love all over!

Gretchen has the most beautiful maple tree outside of her house and it makes me miss Canada every time I go there. 

E picked me a flower and put it behind my ear.

It doesn't get much better than movie night snuggled on the floor with pillows, blankets and popcorn. It was a fabulous OcTobler and I can't believe it's already over. Let's bring on November with my birthday, Thanksgiving and hopefully we get to find out what the gender of the baby is this month too!!!

Halloween Night

 On Halloween night we got all dressed up and as soon as Daddy got home, we headed out. It was the perfect evening for Trick-or-Treating, nice and warm! 

 I serioulsy cannot get enough of how adorable kiddos are as they head out. I was just beaming!

 E knew the drill and was pretty excited but it didn't take long for Manny to catch on. He was so cute marching up the stairs and they were both super polite with their "Thank YOU's" (Manny's newest word!)

 This house was INTENSE, with fire, smoke, grave yard, you name it... they had it!

Time to dig into our spoils! It was a great Halloween and I can't believe it's all over!!

Trunk or Treat

This year E decided that she wanted to be Merida (well she decided, I planned our costumes, then she undecided to be Marida, and I told her if she wasn't Merida then she wouldn't go trick or treating... so she was Merida.) so I decided to go with a Brave theme. Daddy was the big Scottish Daddy, Duke was one of the little brothers and I was the Mama bear (she turns into a bear in the movie.) 

Aunt Janet had already given E the Merida dress (which is stunning by the way! Thanks Janet!), Jakob's costume was a bit spendy as I actually bought him a kilt. It didn't get here in time for the party so I ended up making him one anyways but for the trunk or treat he was sporting his offical kilt. His fur "cloak" was a brown fuzzy blanket I found at Savers for $3 and I used a scrap of fabric from the kilt as his sash. I made Duke's kilt which was freaking adoarble! He wore a pair of E's tights and a black t-shirt from Saver for $1. I got my tights ad vest at Savers for $5 and I made some ears and paws out of left over Chewbacca fur from a few years ago. Aside from the $75 kilt it really wasn't all that spendy. 

Plus, E got to carry around a bow that we made for Duke's birthday party.

I get all smiley faced when I see the kiddos getting candy! It is just so gosh darn cute!

Then they had a little parade, E was a bit too fast for me to take a picture of but Duke we rocking the seriously-mom-ask-me-to-say-cheese-one-more-time face. 

E had fun trying to get the donuts!! 

It was a super fun night and so great to see some faces from our previous ward! Happy Halloween!

Carving Pumpkins

 I love pumpkin carving! It's one of my favorite Halloween traditions. And while yes we did carve a pumpkin or two when we did our announcement, it just felt like we needed to do it again! Peanut what pretty excited about it so we set to work!

 E went for a freestyle approch and then I suggested that I draw a picture for her to trace. She got about half way through and then her arm started to hurt so I finished it. She was pretty cute carving away. 

 I wanted to make Manny a train pumpkin but since it was a pretty busy day we went for quick and simple!

 Gosh I love her!

 It's so fun having a buddy to do things with. E is always wanting to craft, cook, or sew with me.

Our front porch is looking pretty spooky!!!

Tufted Headboard

 As a general rule Gretchen and I try to trade off of projects. I've horded all of project time lately so I was beyond excited to work on something for her! Her project of choice you ask? A tufted headboard. Totally new territory for both of us but gosh we were excited! Here is a quick and dirty break down of what we did. (If you want a better tutorial there are TONS on Pinterest.

 We started with a board at the appropriate dimensions for her bed and then we added a 2x4 frame cutting the top corners at a 45 degree angle. We clamped them on and attached them to the headboard with screws.

 Then we laid the memory foam mattress inside the frame. (I found the mattress on the curb and it had a few stains on it so we sprinkles baking soda on top of it to soak up the yucky and then we vacuumed it off.)

Using the hole in the mattress we marked where our tufts would be with a marker.

 Then we drilled through the wood at each mark. This was SUCH a game changer! No measuring, or counting we just followed the dots!

 We put the foam back in and started stringing on some buttons, starting at the center and working our way out and around. This was totally a two man job. Gretchen was on top threading the needle down to me I would pull it tight to her liking and staple the strings to the back. 

 Once we had all of the tufts, she wanted a metal bead trim and oh my gosh was it sexy!!! And SUUUUUPER simple to attach!

And the final product. Thee was a learning curve and we would have done a few things differently. We need to cut the legs down by 6" but for a first attempt I think it turned out great!!! So much fun and we got it done start to finish in one day with four kiddos! That right there deserves a high five! Now to build some Christmas presents.

Say AHHHHH!

 It was time to go to the dentist again. The kiddos did such a great job! I was super proud of Duke especially, he just laid there like a boss!

 He even took x-rays which just wasn't going to happen 6 months ago. Way to go Bear!

This sweet girl had zero problems and was super excited to have some bubblegum toothpaste! We are cavity free and I got a "way to go Mom!" from the dentist. See you in 6 months!
