We had quite an adventure filled weekend. I worked on Saturday and once again our kids were stricken with the flu. Duke had the throwing up while E had the fevers and chills. I thought I had made it through this round unscathed but alas Sunday morning I woke up with the chills and a head cold from H-E- Double hockey sticks. More on church later.
Jakob's company held a farewell Jakob/ Memorial Day BBQ at Starr's house. They were all sad to see Jakob go. The weather was wonderful and the pool felt great.
Ethnie's new thing is to close her eyes and say "NO CHEESE!" while I attempt to take pictures. They get their lack of enthusiasm for pictures from their father.
Shanklin was defending himself againest a slew of children. He held his own pretty well.
This is Starr. She is the sweetest, funniest and most
genuine person I've ever met. She is always so excited to see the kids and I when we drop by the office. She is always smiling and cracking jokes. It was such a pleasure getting to know her while Jakob worked at N.E.P.C.
Yung rocking some makeshift chop sticks. He eats everything with them.
If only she would swim. Perhaps she'll become a better swimmer while we live with Gramma.
I just love hooded towels. I mean it doesn't get much cuter that that.
On Friday Ethnie was complaining to Jakob about her nose hurting. Jakob asked if she had stuck a Craisin up her nose. She nodded so we took a flashlight and some tweezers and checked it out. We couldn't see anything so we left it. Sunday she complained again. We figured that we would wait until Monday and see if it passes. Once again Monday morning she complained. Gathering as much information you can from a two year old we decided to go to the E.R as the medi centers were all closed, but first Jakob wanted to try vacuuming it out of her nose. Thankfully there was not enough suction. Poor thing would have been scarred for life.
So we spent an hour at the hospital.
She was scarred anyways. She wasn't a fan of having people looking up her nose. I really think that Jakob and I need to get one of those fancy light thing-a-ma-bobs. After a R.N. and a doctor taking a peek they came to the comculusion that there wasn't anything to be worried about so we headed home.
We had quite the feast! Dutch oven potatoes, steak, grilled chicken, salad and fruit. It was soooo good and I wish that my tummy felt better so I cold have eaten more. It should be against the rules to be sick on holidays!
My favorite part was watching E with her Pa. She adores him. She was so excited to be able to sit by him in her own special chair (from IKEA, I love that place.) It wasn't a typical Memorial Day but it was still wonderful. I am so thankful for those who sacrifice to defend our freedom both over seas and the families who are left behind. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
