August Phone Favorites

August was a hot one full of Daddy traveling and back to school shenanigans. Here are a few of our phone favorites!

Duke's birthday eve! Last day of him being 5!

For our anniversary this year (number 10!) Jakob took me to a free movie screening with plans to go to dinner after. Well our movie started late and we were asked to be part of a panel after which took longer than we thought as well. We didn't get out of the theater until 11:00 and every restaurant was closed. We raced to Sonic with two minutes to spare and got a shake. Happy Anniversary haha. It was still a super fun evening out with my boo!

Duke's birthday!

Birthday cereal from Daddy that he didn't have to share! He was so excited!

Special request for lunch? Sonic!

Our kids have Home Depot Day written out on the calendar every month! It's a serious highlight for sure!

She asked for a bun... sometimes I sneak in a little something extra.

Summer afternoon activity... individual forts, because the community fort was just too difficult for tiny humans to share.

This never happens... he's totally faking.

Hide and seek level: expert!

Movie night with Mama!

Sprout painting his nails!

Notes from the Gnomes.

First day of school.

Circling adds just like her Gramma!

Today is a good day to have a good day! May just be my new favorite mantra!

Duke got a few water guns for his birthday I sent Daddy outside to play with the kids. I usually try to stay away from such activities, but it looked like it was too much fun. So I joined in and we had a great time. Sprout was pretty vicious with the hose though!

Slam Dunk!!!

Yoga is a big deal in this house.

I went downstairs to switch a load of laundry around and I came back to find this. So sweet. Duke just adores Millie!

Cooking with Sprout. One of his favorite activities!

Sprout and I went on a date to the Arboretum. It was a nice way to get out of the house!

duke woke up with a sore ear so he stayed home from school. Sprout had an eye appointment. Looks like he may be getting part time glasses.

I began my Vanilla journey!!! So dang excited!

Duke requested some wave hair for school. Such a silly kid!

And that wraps up August! We are so excited for September and some (hopefully) cooler weather.

Night at the Museum

Jakob's company is getting pretty large now, so they are starting to do random drawings for events and I'll admit, I'm not a fan. Our Gala's are limited but I was excited to go to the Prairie Fire Gala. Jakob was looking extra handsome and I threw on some heels in an attempt to be "cocktail" appropriate while being 30 weeks preggers.

Richard, Jakob and Braden. Funny how even with a random drawing these three still ended up getting tickets.

The Crew. Joanna, Braden, Richard, Kelly, Jakob and Myself. Too bad the photographer cropped off the dino's face. :/

There was a silent auction and Jakob bid on some fire hat thing from some Christmas movie of his childhood. He didn't win, much to his dismay, but we had a fun night out dressed and talking to adults!

E's Glasses

A few weeks ago I was talking to E while she was standing on the stairs and I noticed that she was squinting. I started watching her and noticed that she was squinting ... a lot! Jakob had her stand in front of the chalkboard in our kitchen and asked her to read the words on it... she couldn't do it. Dang... time to go see the doctor.

He was quick to confirm our suspicions, E needs glasses. We got her prescription and we walked into Costco to get a feel fro frames that fit her face. she was pretty sure she wanted cat I rims but after trying on a few she decided she liked the square frames as well. So we came home and hit up good ol' Zenni. She was really excited to pick out a few frames.

To say this girl is self-conscious is a major understatement. She is always worrying about what people think and she was really nervous about her new glasses. Daddy and Mama had a good chat with her and she went to school feeling a bit braver. She said that her glasses really made a difference and that she was happy that she could see better.

I think she is just as cute as a button!! This girl is incredible and I so love being her Mama! Welcome to the glasses club Peanut!

Bathroom Problems

Jakob has been traveling a lot. One evening while I was putting the kids to bed I noticed that the roof was leaking while duke was in the shower. I texted Jakob and we put the shower on lock down for a few days.

Jakob came home and cut a nice hole in our roof.

Just the kind of thing you want to work on when you have a basement remodel going down.

Sprout was very concerned about what Daddy was doing downstairs and would check on him through the wall to make sure everything was on the up and up.

this may be one of my new favorite pictures. Like father like son. Thankfully Jakob is a rock star and he fixed the issue. It also makes us want to rip the main floor bathroom out asap. I think we need to plant a money tree in the backyard. Does anyone know where we can get one of those. Renovations are both so exciting, but also such a pain in the booty. Here's to home ownership and the highs and lows it brings ;).

Mario Party

For Duke's birthday this year he had two requests. First, that it be an all boy party and second, that there could be an obstacle course! So we invited all of the boys over with plans to have an outside party where we'd fill up the pool, have water gun fights, and have a rockn' obstacle course. The morning of the party.... it was POURING rain. So we quickly changed our plans. By some miracle, the sun came out for a bit and I sent Jakob outside to set up our course.

Step one: Dress Up

Step Two: Cross the Lava pit and kick the Goomba out of the way (not pictured). Collect the star.

Step 3: Slide down the slide and dodge the ghosts. Collect the star.

Step 4: Grab some Fire Power

Attack the Goombas!

These guys were SOOOOOO gosh darn cute!
Finally they had to use teamwork to hit a star in the middle of the teeter totter.

Players Ready!!

GO!

Game Over. It was super fun and I am so glad we got to do it!!!

The Pinata was a Yoshi Egg that E painted! Super simple! Good paint job E!

Batter up!

The Toblers have such random things in thier pinatas. some of the fun treasures were a reindeer, a snow globe, random candy, a troll from Frozen. It is quite the menagerie.

Goodie Bags with Mario toys and water guns.

Dang, that is one handsome kid!!

It was a fun party, the kids had a blast and Duke was so happy to have friends over to celebrate! Happy Birthday Bear!! You are so loved!
