Her First Pumpkin

I saw this idea on Pinterest and knew I had to do it. It is the perfect pumpkin for her first Halloween, not to mention it is stinking adorable!!

I traced her little feet out on paper first. The length is correct but cutting those itty bitty toes was a tough "feet" so I just eye balled it. Her hands, were a totally different issue. She wouldn't sit still long enough for me to trace them so I covered her hand in ink and made a hand print and cut around it. I traced them on the pumpkin and Voila!

Naturally we took a few pictures. Only 48 this time!

It is becoming more and more difficult to take pictures of Ethnie on my own. She is rather wiggly and it's hard to get her to smile from behind a camera.

Oh golly she's precious. I just love the little feet one below. We hope that everyone is enjoying the last day of OcTobler. I am very excited for this evenings festivities!

Our Little Pumpkin

I just adore Halloween! I would explain why but instead I'll just show you.

E wasn't all that fond if being inside the pumpkin and so this is the best that I got. Holiday's are so much more fun with kids! I hope everyone is enjoying this time of year as much as we are!

Words of Wisdom

You shouldn't play with guns! (disclaimer: no we didn't shoot her in the head Daddy just suction cupped them on there. She is such a good sport :)  )

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...

Oh, right! That would be me!!

I {heart} Sundays

On Sunday after church the weather was so nice we decided to go to the park for the first time! Peanut wasn't all that fond of the slide.

Since there weren't many things for her to play on, and there were several kids who kept petting and kissing her we decided to go for a walk instead. She's starting to get the hang of shoulder rides.

Of course we had to stop to play in the soft grass... and perhaps take a picture or two.

I love this picture. Well done husband!

E didn't want to stay still for her pictures with Daddy.

We had a wonderful afternoon in the park. I just love Sundays. (P.s. this ppost was finger typed by little Ethnie. Quite the lengthy process but she really enjoyed pressing the keys!)

8 Months

  • Height: 27.5 inches
  • Weight: 17 lbs
  • Head Circumference:  45 cm
  • Nicknames: Peanut, E, Boo Bear
  • Ethnie was sleeping through the night until we went to Canada and that messed everything up. It's a process but she's getting better.
  • She loves to sing with me in the car... well I sing and she screams. I love it!
  • She still has NO teeth. Crazy!
  • Ethnie is LOVING solid foods. She has become quite the independent eater and isn't really all that fond of eating off of a spoon anymore. She loves avocado, sliced up grapes, bananas, oranges, pears and pasta. Since she still doesn't have any teeth I'm keeping everything sliced up nice and small. She really enjoys the Gerber cookies and they will keep her occupied long enough for Daddy and I to eat dinner peacefully. She is not a fan of broccoli or carrots.
  • She still hates having her bum changed. She'll now go super rigged and scream which makes things rather difficult and messy. She's good if I have a toy to distract her though.
  • E is not a fan of being put in her high chair or car seat. Once she's in she's fine but the process of being strapped is a very loud one.
  • She is pulling herself up on anything and everything she can find. Most of the time she only makes it to her knees but she's getting better at standing. We've had a few tumbles from this but this girl is tough. She loves standing on our bed and looking out the window and dancing.
  • Ethnie loves to read. While I'm folding laundry in our room she'll crawl over to the book case and hoot and holler while she waits for me to come and get a book to read to her.
  • You don't need to ask for kisses any more. More often than not she'll plant one on you while you're holding her. Oh I just love her!
  • She now knows what "No" means. When we tell her no she'll stop and look at us and then proceed with what ever it is that she was doing ie. unplugging the computer.
  • E started crawling on October 19th. While she can crawl on all fours she's much faster with the army crawl. She is loving being mobile! It did make today's pictures a little rough since she really wasn't into sitting for me. :)
  • Her first word?! I really don't want to be one of those parents who hears their child say Mama at 4 months and calls it their first word. E has being saying Mama for awhile now but I think she now knows it's me. She'll crawl into my lap and just shout it at me if I'm distracted with other things. She also say Ba-ba-ba like no tomorrow. She's really found her voice and likes to chat with you! (October 17th)
  • Peanut will walk with you if you give her your fingers and boy does she love it! She really enjoys chasing her ball around the room. We get some pretty awesome laughs out of her this way.
  • She is super ticklish under her arms and on her tummy.
  • Ethnie officially has a "blanket." She has to have her silky blanket to sleep and most of the time she will cling to it as you take her out of her crib. Now that I know which one "it" is I plan on making a few more.
  • She learned how to use a sippy cup this month.
  • She really enjoys playing with cords, the laundry hamper, and spoons. We used to put her soother in her mouth to keep her from sucking on our phones (another favorite) but now she will just take it out and proceed to suck on the phone and when she's done she'll put it back it. What a girl!
  • She is TERRIFIED of people with facial hair. I don't know what it is but every time any of our friends come over scruffy or my Uncle Tim would look at her with his mustache she'd scream. I don't mean just a few tears I mean full blown episode as if I poked her with a needle. Santa will be such a joy!! :)
Time is zooming by way too fast. It feels as though I brought her home just yesterday and now I have this beautiful 8 month old. She is so sweet and she makes me smile. Being her Mama is the greatest joy. This is what it's all about. I am so unbelievably happy.

    Mobile

Someone is officially crawling. Most times she is rocking the army crawl but she does start out on all fours. My favorite part is that she can now go from laying on her stomach to sitting up! Her screaming because she was stuck was getting old fast. The first time we discovered she could do this was while she was getting some "tough love" (we were letting her cry it out before bed.) I asked Jakob to go and check on her (because I'm a softy like that) and there she was sitting up in her crib staring at the door screaming. Poor thing. Aside from that heart breaking incident this mobile thing is great. It keeps us on our toes and Peanut is just LOVING being able to explore on her own.

For our most interested followers here is a video of her inch worming. I can't believe she is mobile! Time is cruising along much too quickly!

    Canada in a Post

Instead of making several mini posts I decided to smash the remainder of my trip into one big post. Only in Canada would you see hockey players at the baggage claim. Love it!!

This high chair is vintage. Couple that with the return of bright colors from the early 90's and E looks just like me when I was little.

G-pa got all dressed up again for some Heyden family photos. He looked so spiffy. Ethnie really liked his tie.

Words cannot describe how much I love this picture! Beyond adorable!

They Heyden Family. Norman & Ida and their children Calvin, Carolyn, Karen & Brendalee.

There was lots of time for Ethnie to play. She was watching Tigger when this picture was taken.

Taking self portraits are quite difficult with a heavy DSLR. Good enough :)

There was lots of shopping with Oma. Oma really knows how to shop!!

     Story time!

Great- Grandma Heyden we are so lucky to be able to spend so much time with her. Ethnie just adores her, especially whens she sings.

Aunt Brendalee. She's always good for a cuddle and a couple of kisses. :)

Love them to bits!! I am so lucky to have such wonderful grandparents and they both love Ethnie so much!!

This little girl is the key to Great-G-pa's heart. While we were on the phone with him the other day he would laugh while he asked her if she remembered him and she would babble back. He told her he loved her which is a big deal for him. It melts my heart.

I took lots of hand pictures. This is Great-Grandma

     Oma

     And Opa

Ethnie was showered with love and had lots of time to cuddle with everyone. I was glad to get  in one last visit from Jakob's Allegiant days. We won't be going back for awhile bit it was so nice while it lasted!
