Our Canadian Reception

Our reception was absolutely perfect! These are just the pictures from Mom Tobler's camera so I'll update this post when I upload the rest. It was slightly strange to be parading around in a wedding gown and with wedding rings on when we weren't actually married yet, however we had a good time. I was so grateful to have Duke (Best Man) and Jessica (MOH) there with us. They truly made everything so relaxing and fun. I couldn't have imagined a better wedding party. I have to thank our parents publicly for all of their support and love. Thank you to Mom and Dad Tobler who traveled a great distance to take part in this adventure with us. Thank you my parents who planned most of this without me even being there. I don't think you could have captured the vison I had for this day any better than you did. It was perfect. A huge thank you to those who helped set up the hall for 8 hours! It meant so much to me to have it as a surprise and you all did a fabulous job! Thanks to Jo-Ann who planned all of the decorations and helped me pick out the dress of my dreams! To Rob and Janet for coming to be a support to my parents when they needed you the most! To my aunt Debbie for making our BEAUTIFUL cake and painting my clogs. And to all others that leaned a helping hand. It was a magical day for Jakob and I. We Love you all!!!!!! Reliving the Glory Days

The day after Jakob and Jessica arrived I whisked them away to the place where Jakob "officially" proposed so that we could see what it was supposed to look like. However the first item of business was to take Duke to cut his hair. The The lovely Jenn is a very recent convert and I did some modeling for her back in the day. Duke was over for dinner and she stopped by to do some visiting teaching when we convinced him that it was time to clean up a bit. And he looked smokin ;) !!
I love it at the Ledge. There are always tons of people and you can take some really cool pictures when you get creative. Duke was our creative eye. I was a little more adventurous than Jakob was planning on being. In Edmonton there is a huge pool that one can swim in. Yes we do in fact swim in front of our Legislative building. :) I had to work my charm to convince my soon-to-be husband that it wasn't that cold. It was really pretty even with all of the swimming noodles :).

This is where Jakob offically proposed 8 months ago, during our engagement photo's. Of course we had to do a reinactment. The water was super cold, But Jakob was a good sport and let me have my fun.

Bridal Shower Bliss!

It's about time I had something to actually blog about! :)

I was actually rather nervous to go to this bridal shower. I have never attended one before, so I was quite intimidated for mine own to be number one. I had no idea about the rituals, traditions, or appropriate behavior. Do I greet? Does the host take charge? GAMES? I had no idea they played games at these things! I was so glad to have my mom and a friend who had attended many bridal showers there to show me the ropes. I had them direct me every step of the way! The ladies were awesome! They embarrassed me appropriately, and the gifts were fabulous! Thank you so much to all of those who attended and were there to support me! It truly means so much to me! A HUGE thank you to Mamma Moisey! You put on a fabulous shower and made me feel so comfortable! I love you so much! NOW... time for some pictures! :)

This is Jakob's apron that Della made! She has such a talent! She also made us matching tea towels, hot pads, oven mitts, a potato baker and of course an apron for me! Adorable!


The hard part was trying to get me to stop moving! But... I think this is still cute.


HATS?!? A part of bridal shower traditions! They took all of my bows and stapled them to a paper plate. It was either a hat or a bra. I opted for the bra mother however trumped and here's my Bo peep hat!

Hurray!

Three cheers for Father van den Berge! With the reception up and coming quick, mom decided that it was time to vacuum out the cupboards, literally. Together we made lists for the entire family. Between mother and I we had ourselves a hand full! I love the feeling of accomplishment. A warm sense of satisfaction flooded through us as we raced to the kitchen to cross a few things off of our lists. Poor dad was stuck giving our deck a face lift! But all of his hard work has paid off! Here are the fruits of his labors.

Although this isn't the most attractive photo it probably conveys the appropriate emotions. He has to make 4 trips to the store because things were just not working out! But he is a handy man!

The stairs used to be over in between those two new boards. Mom wanted to open it up a bit.

Mission accomplished! Now if it will only stop raining long enough to paint. It's looking good Dad!

Time to put up the railings. I'd like to take a moment to comment on my fathers full denim outfit. He is defiantly not his daughter's father. :)

I seriously don't think anything went smoothly for poor Dad. However Pappa van den Berge is a very handy man and he'll get the job done one way or another.

Dad had to go show the Chenuz house thereby abandoning his post two days before the wedding reception. You can always count on G-ma to rally the troops. Jared took the bull by the horns... and would only stop for a chocolate milkshake. Mmmmm so good.

As I continued to roll cake balls, the troops were busy putting last touches on the steps just as dusk was creeping in. We're hoping that the rain holds off for the night.
