Catching the Coco

I took my before and after pictures of my working out and then Jakob and I snuggled on the couch. I was super tired and fell asleep. I woke up and was absolutely freezing. It's cold out and I didn't think much of it. The next day I woke up feeling like I had the beginning stages of a sinus infection. My nose was stuffy and I had a headache. Tuesday night I started feeling worse and spiked a low grade fever and had the body aches. At this point, Jakob suggested that I take an at home Coco Test. I told him that was ridiculous but that I would comply so that when I booked a doctors appointment for my sinus infection I could tell them I was (-). Welp........ dang........(+). I called Jakob and he raced to the school to pick up the kids. They had been at school for an entire 20 minutes (first day back at school since winter break.) What horrible timing.

At this point quarantining felt pointless because I had already been around the kids, but since no one else was sick, Jakob wanted me to stay away. Well, after two week already being home from winter break and Jakob about to push a HUGE deal through at work (he was working from home.) Things were hard. I felt fine after day 4. It wasn't bad at all and by day 7 I lost my taste and smell but I stayed isolated and wore a mask in common areas. while staying 6 feet away. the Real MVP was E. Jakob had a big deal going through and even through he was working from home, E turned into the primary caregiver. She watched and played with Roo ALL. DAY. LONG. She made lunch everyday and made three evenings worth of dinners. She tidied and cleaned. She snuggled and served. I'm getting emotional as I type. That girl is all the good things in this world and I am so dang thankful for her willingness to help.

The hardest part for me was missing human touch. No hugs from the kids or snuggles from Jakob. No baby kisses or even wrestling matches. Jakob slept downstairs for 10 days and man, I missed everyone. It was strange to be so close yet so far.

The good news was that no one else caught it. I also didn't get very sick that worst symptom was the loss of taste and smell. It really messed with my brain. Peace out Coco, lets not do it again!

The Plague

The plague started in March while Daddy was traveling. Sprout caught croup and it was terrifying. I didn't know what to do being by myself and he wasn't breathing well at all. From the hours of 3-5 we just sat in front of the open window and I held him as he wheezed. The next day Papa Hensley came over to give him a blessing and we took him to the doctor and he got a steroid shot. He was tugging all day long and then at 7:00 p.m. he just stopped. He slept peacefully all night long and I was in tears.

Two days after I went to the KU game I came down with a head cold from hell. I was freshly pregnant and SO tired and I was starting to feel queezy. It was horrible. I curled up on the couch and Jakob came home the next day from his trip. Thankfully he talked to the woman booking the trips and he got the next week off from travel. 3 days later I started to spike a fever. A fever and a baby just wasn't a good combination. I then got a sinus infection and it felt like someone was standing on my head with nails in their boots. I went to the doctor and got an antibiotic and they told me I had the flu A. Then Duke caught a fever and spent two days on the couch with me.

Then Sprout caught a fever and spent two days on the couch with me while Daddy was traveling again.

I didn't leave the couch for two weeks accept to do mandatory things. By the grace of God two days before my trip to Vegas my head felt clear and my fever finally broke. Sprout was on the up and up and I felt like we were all on the mend.

Jakob texted me while I was in Vegas and said E was running an low grade fever at night but was perfectly happy during the day. When I came home the teacher called me and told me that I needed to come and get her. We took her into the doctor because she was having 2 nose bleeds a day. Turns out she had flu A too. She was out of school for a week. She spent 3 days a sleep in our room. The next week Daddy caught it and four days later Duke caught it again. I'm pretty sure the Duke and Sprout just had the 24 hour bug the first time around. No puking or runs, you just had the chills and felt like your head would explode. It was crazy and after the whole family being sick for a month straight we were SO DONE!! And now we are half way through April and life is SO busy! So happy to be healthy again. It was rough!
