April Phone Favorites

I feel like all I do is take pictures. These moments in the kids lives are so gosh darn precious and they are changing so fast. I never want to forget months like this one, so here are about 100 different memories and this months round up of Phone Favorites.

We moved Sprout out of the nursery and rearrnaged the entire house (again) so Redd could move out of our room into his own room. We thought that Sprout may have a tricky time transitioning but he was THRILLED to be moving to to the big kids room. He loved his big boy bed and didn't leave it for the first few hours. He got out of bed a couple of times the first night, but he did great and transitioned like a pro! Such a big boy! 

Some of walks were a bit chilly. 

This year conference was different. It wasn't held at the conference center and while nothing changed for us. We still sat in our Jammies, ate cinnamon rolls and listened to the talks, I felt like the feeling of gathering together was missing. It was a wonderful conference. The children got to participate in the hosanna shout and I loved the spirit it brought into our home. 

I took my Mom's prom dress and shortened it, not sure why I neglected to take an after shot, but it's something I checked off of my list. 

We lived outside.

Quarantine has gotten Jakob's cooking skills flowing! He has made some amazing food. This is Crispy Ginger Beef and it was incredible. (recipe is on my food blog link above)

We've started making a puzzle a week. This Harry Potter one was fun!

Some Sunday's I get dressed. Most Sunday's he does not. I miss dressing up every week. My dresses are feeling neglected!

Roo is a terrible sleeper but some days we just end up watching Dory and cuddling and it's pretty perfect! 

Reddy-Roo loves the swing. Fun fact, Roo was my nickname that my Daddy used for me. I'm not sure if it will stick on Redd but it's fun for now.

We taught the kids how to play Settlers of Catan and it was a major parenting win. They LOVE IT!

 It was a busy month despite us locking down and not leaving our house at all. So many wonderful memories.

COVID-19

 

On Friday March 13th, 2020 the state of Kansas decided to go into state of emergency and it started shutting down. We had just started spring break and we were told that school would be back in by the end of the week.

 

 Things went absolutely crazy. People started going out and buying alllllllll of the toilet paper. In the beginning it was supposed to be a two week lock down. I have no idea why people decided to go bananas over TP. It was sold out EVERYWHERE!!

A few weeks before the Lockdown was initiated, we were watching the presidential debates. I had the very distinct impression that we needed to get a three month food storage in order. So I told Jakob, he suggested that we started getting things ready over the next six months and I told him No, NOW! That day I pulled every last thing that I had been saving for a yard sale out of the attic and gave it to a friend to sell for herself at a yard sale. (In future post.) I pulled out all of the seasonal decorations and put them in the attic. I then had Jakob rip out the shelves and while we were at church one day (he was home witha sick E) he built me some shelves. I then started shopping and I can't even tell you how glad I am that I did. Two weeks later the shelves were cleared out! I mean picked clean! You can't find yeast, flour, sugar, or any canned goods. *Update four months later, You still can't find most of these items!* And for all of his doubting, Jakobw as very pleased when it was all said and done. I had to chuckle when I found this little post he shared. 

 when you are locked down and you don't brush your hair for more than a week. Real life!

Clorox wipes sold out EVERYWHERE! Amazon had some for $36. Bananas!

 

This made me laugh out loud!! 

Spring break got extended by two weeks! We were STOKED!

Three days later, they shut down school for the rest of the year. And just like that, we were homeschooling?! So many emotions raced through my mind. I went from "This is amazing" to "Holy crap how to I homeschool?" to "Sleep in every day" to "Wait I just paid for a bus for the rest of the spring?!?" There were so many emotions. And while most everyone was going crazy, I was actually really excited. We decided to rock out spring break and RELAX and wrap my mind around what exactly we had to do. We were supposed to hear from our teachers but that didn't happen until much later. And right then and there I decided that I wasn't going to stress about this. In all honesty, my kids weren't going to learn much form me. I have four kids, and two of those are very needy. I decided that we would take it one day at a time ad heck since I was the teacher, we were taking Friday's off.

Loved this poem. And while even as I type this the virus is still out there and we are still adjusting, it was CRAZY how fast things happened in March and continued to happen in April and May! (Upcoming posts!)
