Back to School

Back to school this year feels a bit surreal. Because of Covid the kids will not be going to school in person ...yet. We do not have on official start date, but the teachers need time to be able to rearrange everything the students do from the second they are dropped off at pick up to the moment they get back into our car at the end of the day. I cannot imagine how frustrating and overwhelming it must be for them!

So our tiny humans (which aren't so tiny any more *sniff*) will be doing remote learning for the forseeable future. I'm not going to lie, we are all nervous, but the kids are so excited to be going "back" to school. fingers crossed we will be in person SOON!

Duke's First day of School

It's Duke's first day of Kindergarten and there wasn't one ounce of fear in his eyes. Kindergarten started 4 days after E had started school and duke was SO sad that he wasn't able to go to school with E every morning. By the time it was his turn he was stoked!

Duke is an excellent student and has tested above benchmark in quite a few areas! He is in regular kindergarten, but he does speech therapy a couple times a week. This boy is strong and determined. He wil try things over and over until he gets things right and I really admire his work ethic! When he grows up he wants to be a Dinosaur. :)

His first day of school Duke wanted to be with his sister. This is the first year that Mama has driven them to school and they really miss the bus. Duke grabbed onto E's hand and they were off. She walked his right to where he was supposed to sit and it made my Mama heart so happy. When they were born 17 months apart was rough, but now that they are older these two just adore each other and they rely on each other in  so many ways. Duke walked right into class, sat down and I said bye and he didn't look back. This isn't his first rodeo, he knows the drill and I am so thankful for all of the people who helped him to prepare for Kindergarten. Fly on my boy. You are so loved!

Ethnie's First Day of School

And just like that, this girl is in the First Grade!

E is an excellent reader, her skills in math are improving and she is an excellent student. She wants to be an artist when she grows up and she is always making something!!

As everyone knows E is obsessed with owls, she was thrilled whens he saw this owl book and she said her shirt looked like owl wings. She is so cute!

her first day she held my hand for all of two seconds as well walked in. She promptly saw a friend of hers from last year, and just like that she was gone. She's growing up all too fast. Have a wonderful year sweet girl. The world is your oyster.

First Day of School

I have been so conflicted about E starting school full time. On the one hand she is super ready! I know she will do great and I'm not worried about her at all. It will be nice having her out of the house for the full day as well, especially now that Leif is a bit more demanding. And then there is the other hand that just wants me to keep her small forever. I am no longer her best buddy, her world no longer revolves around me and I'm not longer the first person that she wants to play with. Her friends and teachers now have her more through the year then I do and that really breaks my heart. She's no longer just mine, and it really is hard to share her.

She hopped on the bus with a huge smile on her face. She was so excited, no tears, slightly apprehensive, after all it is a big deal to ride the bus. She sat in the front seat and looked back at me and the doors shut and she was gone and even typing this  sit here with a tear in my eye. I cried as she pulled away and a new chapter in our lives officially began.

I was pretty excited to pick her up and hear all about her day. She hopped off the bus and I asked how her day was "It was AWESOME!" She told me all about recess and the rules on the bus and that she had made some new friends. She told me abut lunch and how I "packed too much, lunch is only 20 minutes Mom!" She had gotten a new book as a gift from her teacher and we sat and read it together and it felt so good to have her back home! I am so proud of this sweet girl! She is going to thrive!

Since Duke has already done Pre-School before it felt like slipping back on a comfy pair of shoes. We fell right into step and I am over the moon excited to see what this year holds in store for him!! I also love that it's only half a day so I don't completely lose him!

Duke was super excited when he saw the bus! He jumped right up posed for pictures and I asked the bus driver a few questions. Then we hit a bump. He didn't want to sit and do up his buckles. So Mama had to climb up on the bus and get him all strapped in screaming his lungs out. Once the bus started they said he was fine but he was not thrilled about the thought of me leaving him.

He came home from school and hopped off the bus with a huge smile shouted "MAMA!!" and jumped up in my arms. He said he had a good day and he was pretty excited! He was ready for school to start again but just like E it felt good to have them home!!

And here we go! Another school year! Sweet mercy, summer flew by way too fast!

E Preschool Photos

While E was in the mother's day out program, they took school pictures. I had totally forgotten that it was picture day, since the notice came home with Duke the month prior. Once they informed me that they would be taking pictures I didn't think much of it. I was expecting E's fake smile and a messy little girl but I was really surprised!

They actually turned out amazing! Even still I wasn't about to spend $35 for Preschool photos especially since E was only in the MDO program for a month before she transferred. So here are the proofs, with a terrible photo shop job to take out the watermark. :) Yes, I am that kind of Mama.

What a sweet smile that girl has!! We sure do love you Miss E!
