Kind of A Big Deal

Our flight got cancelled on Saturday due to lack of crew. I was so disappointed. Since we were supposed to be gone Jakob had made birthday plans for himself. A tactical hand gun course. He was beyond excited. Like a kid in a candy store!

It was a long day and it was hot and of course he didn't wear sunscreen at all so he got pretty burnt. He came home hot, tired, hungry and he couldn't have been happier. He had won a shooting contest against two guys from the police force. He had to shoot a target from 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards and he was the only one to do it. Needless to say it was a great day for him and it made him even more excited for the up coming brothers reunion!

Bang Bang

Watch out!

On Thursday morning, Jakob took the Chris (below) & Jared (above) out shooting with Chuck. They shot a good range of guns including and AR15 with FMJ bullets (or so they tell me.. those are just some numbers and letters to me) which just so happens to be illegal in Canada.

The first time Jakob took them shooting last summer they were simply amazed that he could purchase bullets out in the open on Wal-Mart shelves. That is unheard of back home. Needless to say they had a wonderful time shooting at clay pigeons, frying pans and an arrangement of other things out in the desert.

Jakob is using a scope & spotting for Chuck who is on the ground. These look a little to high tech for my taste. Having never shot a gun I think I would want to start off with something as small as possible. I'm horrified of loud noises. Yes, fireworks do scare me so I think baby steps are best!

For my guy however I think big guns suit him well.
