Potty Training

On August 30th we decided to take the plunge and get Sprout Potty trained. We did the three day naked program and he did really really well. Daddy took of the Monday to help with the potty and Sprout had no accidents. Tuesday however he pooped all over the floor, ran threw it on his way to the potty and there was poop everywhere!! Of course.

He couldn't quite grasp the concept of going in the potty. He had no problem going once he was there but innitation was just not happening.

Wednesday, Sprout didn't go in the potty once. I would ask him if he had to go, we'd sit on the potty and he would say he was done... and then he'd pee on the floor. Or poop in the living room, right before Millie was being dropped off. Just when I thought I got it all, I turn the corner and there was another turd. After peeing himself 5 times that day I figured I was safe. Ashley came to pick up Millie and Sprout had been upstairs playing. I called up the stairs and asked him if he had to go potty, his underwear was already wet so I told him to come down stairs.... Little did I know, he had pooped his pants and he started smearing poop down the stairs... into our shag carpet. The only carpet in the house mind you. I may have picked him up and screamed really really loud.

However with all of the accidents, Sprout has not had a single accident while we have been out and about running errands. He did pee himself when he fell at the park a week ago. And he had a poop incident at yet again another park because he said "Mama no potty here." Poor guy. But with reminding Sprout will go potty and have very few accidents... so we got to go pick out undies!

It's been a month.... yes, a month and I feel like we have turned a corner. He now initiates most of his own potty breaks. He no longer cries when he has to poop and while I feel like it's been a long road, I think Sprout has done a really really good job! I'm so dang proud of this big boy!! Way to go Sprout!

Duke is A Big Boy!

Once our lives slowed down a bit we decided it was time for Duke to be potty trained. It was long over due. We once again went with the bare bum method, pumping him full of liquids and having him try to potty every 10 minutes. At first things looked bleak, he had four accidents and no successes in the potty and I was getting a bit nervous. Then, we had success and that was it! Duke has been doing a fantastic job with only two more accidents in the past two weeks and I really blame those on myself for not paying attention. He still has yet to go poo in the potty because of his morning poo in his over night diaper.

He's no longer wearing a diaper at nap time which is wonderful! He is not a big fan of undies. He picked some out but just doesn't like to wear them, which is fine by me for now. I am so proud of this sweet boy! He is a rock star!!

100% Trained

After returning home E went into this stage of constipation. It was miserable for everyone. She would just sit in my arms and sob. Then one day during tub time E told Daddy that she had to go. He plopped her down on the potty and that was it! No more going poo in her diaper. I'm not exactly sure what clicked but she decided she was ready and we couldn't be more proud of her! Man, potty training is no joke! E's such a big girl!

Potty Training

Potty training, makes me seriously consider just stopping at two children. While E has been wonderful and quite successful I think it has been harder on me than her. I am OCD (or as some people like more commonly call crazy) and the germs of touching a toilet and things that go in the toilet really just cause panic attacks. Most time I just have to sit and breathe and remind myself that all things can be cleaned with bleach (which I use frequently.) My bathroom has never been so clean. But this post is about Ethnie. Please note, this may or may not be TMI (too much information).

E has been very successful. We went the bare bum route and Daddy was home to help. We set a timer and we quickly realized that she really didn't need it. She was realizing when she had to go and once she had the first tinkle she was pretty set. We rewarded her with jelly beans and that was it. She had two accidents and instantly tried to mop it up on her own. Such a sweetie. I love her outfits, shirt bare bum and socks up her thighs. She didn't want to be chilly. I also love that she crosses her ankles. Such a lady.

Day two, she decided she wanted to wear a towel dress. I have no idea where she got this idea but she wore her little dress for 3 days straight. Such a fashionista. We attempted to try panties but every time she put them on she wet herself thinking it was a diaper. So we went back to the bare bum.

Day three no accidents. But also no poo's. We've hit a wall where we don't really know how to get her to poo in the potty. She has no fear of the potty and can recognize when she has to go. Hopefully we'll over come this soon. But she's a tropper.

We are still doing well and have had a few outings with success. I don't think we'll stray far from home for a while.

As a reward for her learning to use the potty she got a princess Elsa doll. The two of them are inseparable. We are so proud of our big girl! It's been an interesting week.
