Trim Trim

Once I was feeling better but still "isolated" I decided to cut my hair. I had been on the fence about it for while. I have been loving the length but it was feeling heavy.

It needed some freshness.

Voila! Back to some serious layers and gosh darn it I LOVE it!!! It curls so much betetr and feels a lot lighter!

Duke's Hairchop

It was time for Duke's yearly hair chop. He is not a fan of the buzzers but he but on his brave face.

We cut a lot off!

Look at how handsome he is!! He did such a great job sitting still and Mama only had to call three people to tell me how to fix the front.

I sure love you Bear! This boy can rock anything but I really like this style!

E's Hair Chop

I came home from Canada and E said she wanted to cut her hair. I told her to sleep on it and if she still wanted to cut it then we would in the morning. She was still all about it in the morning so we started to cut.

I had planned on cutting it to shoulder blade level, but I forgot how curly her hair was and for a while her head was crooked while I cut which made it even shorter.... Needless to say it ended up shoulder length. I called Aunt Missy to see if she could even it out and she told me to never try something like this again. Haha.... oops.

At first glance I looked at E and she cried. Then when she couldn't see I cried too. I was strangely attache dto her long beautiful hair but now that I have had time to adjust to it, I think it is SO cute!! Short hair is a lot of work and has to be done every day, which is a pain for both of us but it is so much cooler and this girl can rock anything!

Cutest photo bomb.

I mean seriously?! She's the cutest! It makes her look so grown up too!! We are both excited for it to grow out a but, which shouldn't take very long.

Hair Cut

I have been at war with my look for awhile now. I love my long hair, as in am ridiculously and strangely attached to it. But it is heavy and tired and I knew I needed a bigger change than just a trim.

So I decided to chop it myself, which was even more terrifying. I knew I still wanted length but I needed it lighter. Every time i have gone to the hairdresser they end up chopping off 6+ inches and I really wasn't alright with that.

So I took the plunge and went to town. It took 20 minutes and I {love} how it turned out. It is about four inches shorter on the bottom. I originally only took off two inches on the bottom but decided to take more because it still looked tired. Then I added layers and LOTS of them.

I completely love the way it curls. How light it is. How it only takes 15 minutes to blow dry instead of 45, and it feels different without changing a lot. Braiding is tricky and updos are a learning curve but over all. I am so happy with it! Baby steps people, baby steps.

The Fourth

It's odd having a baby and trying to remember all of his "firsts!" I whipped out Duke's outfit from his first fourth of July. The shorts were a bit small for him but they fit Leif pretty well!!

I almost feel like he needs to say the pledge of allegiance.

I'm pretty in love with this little shoot!!

The cutest little Americans you ever did see!!

And of course life would not be complete without our favorite outtake! Sheet not centered, flag in the air, Sprout falling, and fifty shades of blurry! THIS is what 99% of my pictures look like.

E was my kitchen helper as we had friends over for dinner on the 3rd and the 4th. She cut and sliced strawberries and filled them with cream cheese.

She cut the watermelon into stars...

... to match her festive hair!

We had our friends and it was wonderful. Who wouldn't enjoy eating burgers two nights in a row?

I was feeling festive so I made up a cake. It wasn't the prettiest on the outside.

But in the inside it was pretty amazing!!!

It was a fantastic fourth!! So thankful for all of the blessing that come from living in this beautiful country!

Canada Day

It's Sprout's first Canada Day!! I really need to get more swag for the occasion, our house isn't all that festive. We decided to make up a maple leaf shirt with Leif's hand print. Not too bad considering he's 2 1/2 months old :)

 He's such a stud!

Mama was the only other person who had any Canadian clothing, I'll have to remedy that when I go back up in a few weeks. We hung up the flag and sang the national anthem.

Then we were off to pick some blueberries at the Berry Patch. Can you see Duke's name on the pole?

It's was a warm day but our little ones were good pickers!

We came home with quite the haul!

That night it was time to say goodbye to Jakob's luscious locks!

I really wanted him to rock this look for a few days.

All gone! It was amazing how long his hair had gotten!!

Then it was Sprout's turn.

We just trimmed up the sides and cut off his little rat tail. I'm totally in love with his dark hair! It was a super fun day! Next year I'll be a bit more festive! I am so thankful for my homeland and I am ever so proud to be Canadian!
