Okay March. You made a name for yourself! And while most of the world is ridiculously stressed about this, I am LOVING it. So here is a round up of some very random Phone Favorites.

Redd and Dory. Best friends! He will watch the entire movie from start to finish. He's obsessed!

Sprout's first night in his NEW BIG BOY BED! He joined the big kids upstairs the end of March and to say he was excited would be a major understatement! He did really well staying in his bed. He only gets out once or twice as he's trying to settle down. It usually takes him a lot longer to fall asleep than it does for Duke and E. So proud of this boy. He's growing up much too fast!

Pencil Pet

Just one more reason why I adore E's teacher. She comes up with the most incredible activities even while they aren't in school. She asked the kids to make a pet pencil. The second E got off of her zoom class she came down bouncing! She asked if we could make a sloth and we headed to Pinterest. 

I "reminded her" how to sew (I can't say taught because she says she already knew how to sew.) And she did the entire thing aside from positioning the head and limbs. It took her 6 hours but she was dedicated.

I cannot get over how CUTE she is. E named her Cookie. 

Way to go sweet girl. You are amazing!

Hello Spring

At long last things are blooming here in KC! Not that we would know... really. It has been three weeks since we left our house and gone further than the church across the street. But the blooms there are STUNNING! So naturally i had to snap some pictures and because we're in the middle of a pandemic, people are "come as you are."

We didn't manage to get a very good one of all of us and that's fine. :) 

This boy was alllll smiles as per usual. He's such a happy baby!!!

The tulips were up! Tulips are my favorite flower. They remind me of my Daddy and my Dutch heritage and they make me smile! 

While I love all the smells, pumpkin, colors and sweaters that come with Fall, Spring is a major contender with no bugs, beautiful flowers, warm days and the feeling of restoration. LOVE this time of year!

COVID-19

 

On Friday March 13th, 2020 the state of Kansas decided to go into state of emergency and it started shutting down. We had just started spring break and we were told that school would be back in by the end of the week.

 

 Things went absolutely crazy. People started going out and buying alllllllll of the toilet paper. In the beginning it was supposed to be a two week lock down. I have no idea why people decided to go bananas over TP. It was sold out EVERYWHERE!!

A few weeks before the Lockdown was initiated, we were watching the presidential debates. I had the very distinct impression that we needed to get a three month food storage in order. So I told Jakob, he suggested that we started getting things ready over the next six months and I told him No, NOW! That day I pulled every last thing that I had been saving for a yard sale out of the attic and gave it to a friend to sell for herself at a yard sale. (In future post.) I pulled out all of the seasonal decorations and put them in the attic. I then had Jakob rip out the shelves and while we were at church one day (he was home witha sick E) he built me some shelves. I then started shopping and I can't even tell you how glad I am that I did. Two weeks later the shelves were cleared out! I mean picked clean! You can't find yeast, flour, sugar, or any canned goods. *Update four months later, You still can't find most of these items!* And for all of his doubting, Jakobw as very pleased when it was all said and done. I had to chuckle when I found this little post he shared. 

 when you are locked down and you don't brush your hair for more than a week. Real life!

Clorox wipes sold out EVERYWHERE! Amazon had some for $36. Bananas!

 

This made me laugh out loud!! 

Spring break got extended by two weeks! We were STOKED!

Three days later, they shut down school for the rest of the year. And just like that, we were homeschooling?! So many emotions raced through my mind. I went from "This is amazing" to "Holy crap how to I homeschool?" to "Sleep in every day" to "Wait I just paid for a bus for the rest of the spring?!?" There were so many emotions. And while most everyone was going crazy, I was actually really excited. We decided to rock out spring break and RELAX and wrap my mind around what exactly we had to do. We were supposed to hear from our teachers but that didn't happen until much later. And right then and there I decided that I wasn't going to stress about this. In all honesty, my kids weren't going to learn much form me. I have four kids, and two of those are very needy. I decided that we would take it one day at a time ad heck since I was the teacher, we were taking Friday's off.

Loved this poem. And while even as I type this the virus is still out there and we are still adjusting, it was CRAZY how fast things happened in March and continued to happen in April and May! (Upcoming posts!)
