TFSC - Week 13 - Back to School Week

And here we are, the end of summer and summer camp and I am having all of the emotions about it! I honestly can't think of anything that would have been better for me or my kids during this whacky summer home with all of the COVID restrictions.  !

This week we went through old clothes, sorted old school supplies and bought a few essentials. We reflected back over all 12 weeks of summer camp and oh my goodness I am so glad I did it. When I started summer camp I wanted to make sure that it didn't turn into a money pit. I wanted to use things I had on hand and show the kids that you can be creative using anything. I also wanted to be more intentional with my parenting. Setting aside an hour or two a day five days a week worked for me. It gave me a scheduled time to focus and we all really looked forward to it. We had such an amazing time bonding together, laughing and making memories that are precious to me. We have already started planning out next year and I am so excited. It's back to reality tomorrow. ✌🏻 Out summer.

TFSC - Week 12 - Reading Week

This week E picked the theme and I loved it! We picked a few of our favorite books and then we made crafts that went along with each one. Educational, easy and creative all in one go?! I'm calling that a win for sure!

For the Gruffalo, we made paper stick puppets and acted out the story.

For Dragons Love Tacos we made paper tacos and had tacos for dinner. The kids loved this one!

I love all of Nancy Tillmans books so I had to make sure we did at least one of her books this week. the Crown on Your Head felt like a good one. the kids made their very own crowns and it was a lot of fun.

By this point Duke was pretty sick of crafts so E and I made our very own scary Peacock. This was the perfect transition week into starting back to school week. I think we will do a repeat next year. Can't believe summer camp is almost over.

TFSC - Week 11 - Dinosaur Week

Dinosaur Week. Technically this week the kids were supposed to go back to school and guys, I think I'm ready. I had planned summer camp up until the end of July. Then I planned on spending the couple of weeks before school, getting ready to go BACK to school. Once we found out school was pushed back I was so excited (lazy summer days forever!!), but also a bit burnt out. Jakob very seriously told me that we could just end summer camp but that felt wrong. So I spent the evening planning the next months worth of activities (and perhaps stated planning next year too can you say Harry Potter Week?!? Holy man I'm excited!). I'm feeling a bit burnt out but we rallied and rocked out Dinosaur week.

We made Dinosaur hand prints (which E told me was a bit immature but she'd do it anyways 🤣)
Sprout's started off as a hand and turned into a "hiding dinosaur."

These may be immature but I'm a big fan!

Our next project spanned over a couple of days. The kids built a volcano. sprout was not into getting his hands dirty at all.

 E painted it.

We put some dinosaurs on it and we blew it up!

We hatched dinosaur eggs (thank you Piper!).

We made dinosaur skeletons. They turned out so dang cute!

And Sprouty and I made dinosaur print cookies. It was a busy week and I'm so glad that we rallied and did it! It was a lot of fun!

TFSC - Week 10 - Food Week

Tobler Family Summer Camp Week 10: Food Week. This week was a bit more hands on so I didn't take many pictures. At the beginning of the week the kids picked a special treat they would each like to make and it was so dang fun. We made rainbow fruit popsicles, chocolate covered strawberries, blue ocean jello, chocolate covered popcorn, and cinnamon rolls. It was a de-licous week.

TFSC - Week 8 - Build It Week

This week we had a lot on the go getting ready for Grammy and Pa to come and for E's Baptism, so summer camp was a bit sporadic.

We started out with Papa coming to help saw things. Two kids and a power saw had me nervous. Turns out they were terrified of the saw. So Papa and I did all the cutting and it was hilarious.

Papa is a very particular person, he likes things done right and I don't blame him but this was a bird house for the kids and I was past the point of being exact. Man, we were a gong show haha.

Another day the kids sanded.

Pa arrived and he helped us drill and assemble.

The kids were all about drilling. That was fun!

All assembled! Now we need to paint and hang them! Hopefully we have some birds next year! Thanks for helping Pa! We love you!

TFSC - Week - Space Week

After a week off, the kids were itching to get back to summer camp so I decided to up my game a bit. We did space week and it was awesome. Little did I know that there was supposed to be a comet and a few planet sightings this week to so that worked out nicely!

We kicked off the week with some water color planets. I think the kids are over water colors but I think they are SO dang fun!!

We threw shooting stars at each other (water balloons.)

We turned ourselves into astronauts. This was a lot of fun and I loved seeing what the kids chose to do for their bodies and planets.

Duke said he was an alien! I love it dude!
E did a great job with her body!

We made Popsicle stick constellations which was a bit harder than we thought. This was a big hit however and the kids even decided to make up a few of their own constellations.

Summer camp usually doesn't involve this little one but it was nice to snuggle this alien too!

Daddy made match stick rockets and we launched them. Duke was the only one brave enough to hold the stick.

And then I woke up E at 5:00 in the morning to see if we could go outside and see the planets. There was too much light pollution to get a picture but we could see the planets, no comet though. So I'll just share this picture by @isaacspicz beacuse wow. (I added his handle to the picture for credit purposes.) I was a super fun week with my little aliens!

TFSC - Week - Art Week

This week for summer camp we decided to do Art Week. I really should h ave called it field trip week and called it good because we were so dang busy this week.

Most of our "art projects" were really just crafts too. But we had fun squeezing these in despite the craziness!

Our first day we made cactus water colors.

Then we did magic art which the kids really enjoyed. It was super simple and we will be redoing this one for sure!

E made this abstract art piece on the side and I love how it turned out!

We got a little bit festive and made little fireworks. The kids had a fun time launching these all over the house.

Some Canada crafts. Love my little mudbloods!

And some adorable eagles for the fourth. I love these little artists.
