These highlights are a little bit random this year because we didn't go anywhere until November. this was the year of the "pandemic" Covid-19 came in and the world went CRAZY. Everything shut down. We went on a mandatory two week lock down, the era of the mask was born. Our family didn't leave the house for 17 weeks. Not for groceries, church, or school. We were home. All day every day. And it was AMAZING!!!! The were lots of scary things that happened, lots of protesting, lots of hatred and a very loud election but we got to spend time as a family. We became best friends and I secretly loved the lock down. We were very lucky to have a job where Jakob could work from home and I miss parts of the slow day without any expectations. So here are my highlights from 2020.
1. All the itty bitty baby snuggles. looking back I feel like I was a little bit cheated out of the first year of Roo's life. He's our last baby and that poor baby was put on the back burner a lot because of school and the demands of having older kids home from March-October. Snuggle pictures are dear to my heart.
2. That baby. Swoon!
3. The Tobler Igloo! It was a pretty big one! All four kiddos could fit in there quite comfortably.
4. Koala baby! I found this at Savers and I could not get enough of Roo as a baby Koala.
5. Superbowl Sunday!!! Chiefs won the Superbowl in one of the most incredible games of the year! We played football in church for singing time. The whole city was soaring it was incredible!!!
7. E turned 9 and had a Art themed birthday party. She made this cake almost entirely on her own. Oh Peanut, you are so loved!
8. Roo's first St. Patty's
9. Sprout moved upstairs with the big kids and he was trilled. His first night in his big boy bed, which meant yes, Roo moved out of our room.
10. The first day of spring break and the first day of the never ending spring break. So many unknowns at this point of the year.
11. Those blue eyes.
12. I was so activities that lock down happened in spring. We were bale to spend a LOT of time outside doing fun activities and it was a life saver.
13. Generally speaking the kids want to be with Mama more. They adore thier Daddy, but usually chose to snuggle and such with me. Not Sprout, he is Daddy's boy through and through. He looks up to his Daddy, he is his hero. He also talked about mowing the yard (His FAVORITE this to do) for DAYS!
14. Our first lock down birthday. It was low key and so sad and I secretly ADORED it. Sprout wanted a basketball and basketball hoop cake. HE doesn't even like cake but he was pretty set on his desision. Gosh darn it he's SO CUTE!!
15. Easter Sunday was strange this year but it was good. The kids couldn't understand why I was asking them to dress up. I love this picture. First shot and no face swapping!
16. Our first trunknic full of snacks and lunch with Papa and Gram. My goodness we have missed them during this lock down.
17. What working from home looks like sometimes.
18. Our first break in quarantine was for Kyle and Kim to drive through and it was AMAZING. It was a fast 14 hours that were mostly spent sleeping but it felt so good to see family!
19. Mother's Day
20. We made it through the end of the school year! WOOOOOHOOOO!
21. E and I had to go into Costco to get fresh flowers for her Baptism and it was the first time that we had been shopping in MONTHS
22. Our first out of the house adventure as a family (minus Daddy) was to the zoo and while it was an outdoor experience I feel like it was a bit overwhelming for me. It was SO nice to be among people.
23. There was a lot of home time and sibling bonding this year. I love this picture because we have one almost identical of E with Sprout.
24. July 25th, 2021 E was baptized and confirmed a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was a beautiful and emotional day and we are just so dang proud of her!
25. It was really hard to say goodbye this time around. I sat in the living room and just cried when they drove away. Having family far away is HARD.
28. Redd's First Canada Day.
30. We spent so much of our time at Papa and Gram's pool and it was heaven sent! Sprout loved being thrown.
31. Daddy built the kids a tree house!
32. This year Tobler Family Summer Camp was born and it was INCREDIBLE. It was so much work, but I feel it was 100% worth it.
33. We celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary by putting our wedding clothes back on. They were snug but they fit!!
35. August 20th, 2020 my brother Chris got married and found out shortly after that they are expecting their first baby! I am so dang happy for them and I can't wait to see my sweet little niece.
37. While remote learning was really hard home church is the BEST! I love taking time to have a lesson for the kids. Having Daddy bless and pass the sacrament. I love the spirit that it brings into our homes, the bond it creates with our children. Home church is the best in my opinion.
38. We played hookie from school (which i have never done with my kids before) and took them to the zoo with Papa and Gram. It was so nice to go on a not so busy day with several sets of eyes. Absolutely worth it!
40. Back to school hybrid. The kids are in school 3 days a week and it is awesome!
42. David came to go shooting and he helped with some home projects and it was amazing having him!
44. I really like going iwth the face theme for pumpkins. The kids did such a great job!
45. Happy Halloween from our neck of the woods.Roo's first Halloween
46. Roo turned one!
47. Our first trip this year. Breaking the law (no more than 10 gathered) in 2020. It was a wonderful trip and my soul needed it!
48. We've gotten to know some friends who work for the Chiefs this past year. Sprout got a picture with the super bowl ring and the Lombardi trophy.
And there we have it. 2020 will forever be a year of external chaos but internal joy. While the world was on fire (quite literally) I felt so much love this year. I felt our relationships deepen. I felt gratitude for what we had. I felt my faith grow and my testimony deepen. It has been quite the year and I am looking forward to what is in store for 2021.
