One of My Many Faces

As most people know, I am a professional princess.... well sometimes I'm a clown too. I do children's birthday parties for a living and I would have to say it it probably the best job in the world. I mean really who doesn't like dressing up as a princess?

The reason for this particular event? Our little niece Violet and her sister Lucia were visiting from Boston. Last time they came to visit, Sleeping Beauty came (6 months pregnant. It was rather funny!) Gramma asked who Vi wanted to visit this time and she asked for Rapunzel!

We had so much fun! There was face painting....

And we had to make a magic cupcake of course!

And sing happy birthday to Mommy, Papi, Voilet and the actual birthday girl Lucia who turned two!

 What pretty princesses Toblers make!

I can hardly believe this little girl is TWO! It feels like just last month we were at her baby blessing! Gosh time flies!

Violet was the same age that Ethnie is now (6 Months) when I met her for the first time back in 2008. Now this little princess is 4!!!!

 Golly I love these girls!

Thank you for inviting princess Rapunzel to Lucia's party Violet!! It was a ton of fun and I got to wear my very first custom made princess dress!!!!! Mom Tobler is a super star and made this dress the day before/ day of the party! It's just too beautiful, we'll have to do a special post to show off all of the details! I love it so much!!!!

A Change of Pace

Jakob has gotten a new job at a company called New England Pension Consulting (N.E.P.C.) here in Vegas. The main office is in Boston so Jakob headed over there to train for a week. We missed him dearly! For some reason this trip was rather hard on me, which is odd because I leave him all of the time. Perhaps it is the first time he's left Ethnie and I. It's a good thing Mom and Dad Tobler graciously accepted us into their home.... but more on that later, this is about Jakob!

Jakob is a performance analyst and the short version of what he does is write reports. The longer version: he monitors the monthly returns of approximately 16 clients with about $4 billion in assets under management. Even though he misses the gang over at Allegiant he is looking forward to his future in investment consulting.

While Jakob was in Boston he got to visit with Chad, Janet and Little Violet and Lucia.

They had lobster for dinner! Can you tell these two are brothers?? Thank you Chad and Janet for welcoming Jakob into your home! We love you so much! We are so proud of Jakob and are excited to see what the future holds!

Gramma & Grampa's House

While Jakob was in Boston, Gramma & Grampa graciously allowed us to invade their space for a week. Crashing with a little one requires a lot of things to bring over, I swear they thought I was moving in. We had a lot of fun! Ethnie was such a good girl and helped Gramma mop the floors!

Gramma makes things like eating so much fun! She was trying to put it in her ear!

 Silly Gramma!

Ethers loves being in her bouncer/ swing which made it simpler for Gramma and I to work on projects!

Gramma is sure creative! She made an awesome stand for toys!

Too bad all she was really interested in was the red roof and the tape :)

Bath Time! Gramma's sink comes apart! What fun!

Ethnie just {adores} her Grampa! When she would come out of her room in the morning she would get all excited and start looking for him. One morning he had already left for work and she was rather sad.

Grampa sure can make her laugh.

We also strated her on Gerber Puffs and she loves them!

We had so much fun!!! Thank you for letting us stay with you Gramma and Grampa!!! We love you sooo much!

6 Months

  • Height: 26 inches (taken at 6 1/2 months)
  • Weight: 16.5 lbs
  • Head Circumference:  43 cm (taken at 6 1/2 months)
  • Nicknames:Peanut, Boo, Bug, Boo Bear
  • Our little girl is no longer a cuddle bug. It's very rare that she'll fall asleep in my arms. She will sometimes fall asleep on Daddy's shoulder or Sydney's (her babysitter) in church. For the most part all she wants is to be in her crib with her soother and a silky blanket. She falls asleep on her side an then rolls to her back throughout the night.
  • She is still quite the little angel. She's getting a little more attitude but I am still amazed at how tolerant she is and how well she does around people when she's so tired!
  • Ethnie's on a fairly regular routine (well we've been away from home a lot so it's rather difficult) for the most part she wakes up at 7:30 and takes her first nap from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. and then her second nap from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m. then she's down for the night at 8 or 8:30 p.m. She still wakes up once a night for a feeding at around 5:30 a.m
  • She started sitting up all on her own on July 31st! She is loving being a big girl and being able to see everything! She'll still throw herself backwards so we keep her Boppy behind her.
  • She has zero desire to crawl and honestly while crawling would be fun I really do not what to have to start baby proofing my home!
  • She's tried a variety of solid foods this month! I'm loving watching her discover different tastes! So far she has had: apples, strawberries, grapes, pears, raspberries, carrots, peas, watermelon, peaches, apple juice, crackers, & bread.

  • She is still loving cups, bowls and spoons. Lots of the time we'll catch her toting a spoon around with her. It's adorable.
  • She is such a flirt!! Everyone has to stop and take a peak at her. She makes a lot of friends in the grocery store, I'm with my SIL, it takes a lot longer to get my shopping done when I have to stop every 2 minutes to chat with Peanuts new friend.
  • She is Daddy and Grampa's girl! She gets a wiggling and excited when she sees them! It's beyond cute! When I returned home from Canada Ethnie wouldn't nurse because she wanted to be staring at her Daddy.
  • If it's electronic, she wants it! Be it the computer, laptop, cell phone, iPad, T.V. you name it she's got to have it!
  • She can barrel roll now and is getting really good at pushing herself up on her hands. She's starting to get frustrated with sitting still. I'm sure she'll be moving about in no time!
  • She loves little people. Little Addison comes over quite a bit and Ethnie just adores her! If she sees another little person in the store she'll start panting and gasping trying to get out of the seat to watch them.
  • She's started this fake cough for when she's trying to get your attention. I'm sure she knows I'm terrified of her choking but her cough is ridiculous and it makes me smile.
  • She likes "flying" with Daddy and by "flying" I mean Daddy tosses her in the air. It makes my heart drop but she enjoys it.
  • She loves playing peek-a-boo. It's the best way to get her laughing.
  • She also {loves} being chased. We'll chase her all over the house and she just adores it.
  • Her hair is getting thicker. It still looks pretty red to me.

I can hardly believe that my little girl is half a year old already. I feel as though I'm not savoring every moment I have. Time is just slipping away. It is life's greatest joy being Ethnie Mama, it doesn't get much better than this.

Just One of Those Days

Monday was just one of those days where nothing goes according to plan and you end up sitting on the floor sobbing. I started off the morning by installing Picasa on my computer. Yes, we do have Photoshop but I was looking for something a little more user friendly. I will have to take a class to be able to learn all of the magic in PS. Anyways, I installed Picasa when I realized it's finding movies and Jakob's files and I really didn't want any of that on there so I started deleting. I must have been doing this for a minute or so when the thought crossed my mind.... I hope this isn't clearing the computer as well?! Yup, I didn't realize that it just "finds" files and doesn't "copy" them. So to the recycle bin I went to retrieve what I had deleted. I went to check my pictures and EVERYTHING was missing. The only thing I had left was 2012 (thank heavens! If I would have lost Ethnie's pictures I would have gone insane!) and our wedding photos, everything else had vanished. Confused and upset I went crazy trying to scan the computer for my files. Nope gone. I don't remember deleting them but honestly who knows. I was going pretty quick. Everything was somehow scrambled. I did quiet a number!

Anyways, needless to say I was sobbing on the floor. I couldn't find my phone to get a hold of anyone so I just sat there crying! That's when Ethnie woke up from a 20 minute nap (which should have been 2 hours) and I was going crazy trying to satisfy her and figure out what had happened to 7 years worth of pictures. It was about this time that I decided I needed to take my mind off of it, go pack for my week with Mom Tobler (Jakob went to Boston to train for his new job at N.E.P.C. more on that later.

This is where things get really bad. I put Ethnie on the bed so she could play while I packed a folded laundry. I went into her room down the hall to grab a couple of outfits when all of a sudden I hear this silence, then a BOOM and then her poor little scream. She has never barrel rolled before and poor baby Ethnie tumbled off of the bed... which lead to more tears from both of us. It was at that point that we went downstairs to cuddle and watch a movie. Like I said it was one of those days. We did use four different recovery programs and I think we got most of our pictures back. Time will tell. I guess in the end it's a good thing I have a blog so I have some documentation of our lives. :)

Our Big Girl!

Ethnie has been sitting up all on her own since July 31st. She loves being able to see everything and gets frustrated when we lay her flat for tummy time. As with all landmark occasions a photo shoot was a must!

We sure do love our little Gerber baby. She is getting so big so fast! What happened to my newborn?!
