On Sunday I was released from my calling of Sunbeam teacher and called as the co Primary chorister. It is bitter sweet leaving my Sunbeams. I have become very attached to them all. The one wearing Jakob's big blue tie is named Kade. Kade it so shy he only speaks in whispers. During sharing time he will climb up on my lap and snuggle his head into my chest and listen to the music. He is adorable. We have 17 Sunbeams in our ward and at times it gets a little crazy. I am looking forward to still being able to see them during singing time each week. Primary chorister is a big job but I'm exited to take on the challenge.Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Girls Camp
Palo Verde Girls Camp 2010

I was called as Assistant Camp Director as well as Sunbeam teacher back in February. At first I was worried. I just got out of Young Woman's and now I'm a leader. I didn't know how seriously the girls would take me being that I am only 3 years older. Once I got up to camp all my worries were gone. We had an amazing set of girls and although I had never heard the pledge of elegance or heard of "decorations" for camp they took it easy on me.
There was acting:
Sister Christanson had made up a skit before we got to camp and had organized costumes, a dance and script. This is Mac rockin her Grandma costume.
There were bugs:
We had Ladybugs EVERYWHERE! Hundreds of them after awhile it got annoying but I rather it be ladybugs than mosquito any day!

There was Climbing, Zipping and Hiking:
I have never been to camp in Vegas before. Apparently the zipline was very slow so this year they cleaned it up and yes as you can tell from the look on Mac's face, you went quick! At the end they didn't even bother catching you they just let us run into a large mat.
Yes that is yours truly I wasn't hanging on until that moment when I realized how quickly that mat was coming towards my face. I hit it so hard everything went black and fuzzy. It was so fun!
This is dear Shauntey at the top of the harness wall. Upon climbing to the top of the wall Shauntey went to let go to come down when she realized that her carabiner had come undone and she was no longer attached to the rope. She was hanging onto the wall with one arm and had one foot on a small rock in socks. She played it cool and a few minutes later she was able to reattach herself. That was scary!
And as Always There was Bonding:
This is Nikki. I really enjoyed getting to know her. She has such a sweet spirit. I wish I was more like her when I was 16.

One of my favorite pictures of camp. This is Nikki and her mother who is in the presidency. When I was 12 my mom was in the presidency it was a wonderful bonding experience for her and I. I greatly appreciated having her at camp with me.
Our Bishop. I adore our Bishop. He is one of the funniest people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting.
It was a wonderful camp and our girls were awesome! Bishop told me twice that I was in charge next year and I hope that is his sense of humor shining through. I don't know how I'm going to be director?! Time will tell I have a whole year before I have to worry about that. For now I'm just going to enjoy the Candy Land memories.
p.s. thank you to all of the girls and Sister Steel for letting me steal their photos

Something a Little Different

Taking pictures of yourself is way to over rated. Between lighting and angles one is quite limited. I just couldn't wait to post pictures of my new hair so this self portrait will have to do. It has been almost a year since I have had my hair coloured. The 5" roots were getting a little out of hand. As much as I loved being blonde I decided to go back to my natural colour. Much less maintenance. We added some low lights as well to break up the colour and give it some dimension. I'm very pleased with how it turned out!

To Our Fathers
You have taught us so many precious and important things. Thank you for showing us how to pee in the woods, belch real loud and eat food with our fingers. For braiding my hair when Mom was sick even though you had no clue what you were doing. For taking us camping fishing and shooting. For teaching us to work first and play later. For helping us with homework and playing with us when you came home from a long day at work. Thank you for building forts, playing horse, and reading us stories before bed. Thank you for defending us and when things went wrong thank you for being patient and strong. For fixing our toys and bandaging our scrapes. Thank you for working so hard to provide for us at home. For always being there with open arms when we needed a hug. Thank you for leading and guiding with a patient heart for following the Saviors example and teaching us about our Heavenly Father who loves us. For all that you have done over the many years. We love you dearly and are so thankful to have such amazing fathers.Thursday, June 17, 2010

Oops

My fabulous friend Courtney came over awhile ago to help me paint a banner for Young Woman's Camp. I had left the paints in my car from painting at Mom and Dad Toblers and went downstairs to go and get them. Of course I picked the up the bag upside down and the entire bag fell on the ground. (I'm sure you can see where this is going) I picked up all of the paints (or so I thought) and went upstairs to continue working. 2 minutes later I came back down to get some paint brushes (because I have the memory of a gold fish) and find this splash of red paint on Courtney's car, and ONLY Courtney's car. It's a wonder how of the five cars in close proximity hers was the only one to get hit. I ran upstairs to get a cloth to wipe it down and the next 20 minutes were spent scrubbing off dried paint. The moral of the story: It pays to have good friends who just laugh and say " Hmm I kind of like it." Oh how I love her!

Happy Birthday Momma van den Berge

Happy Birthday Momma v!! I love and miss you dearly! Being that I'm a Tobler now you must allow me to take part in a Tobler tradition by stating some reasons why I love you.
- You are always there to lend a helping hand to whomever may need it be it your friends, kids, or husband.
- You are very creative especially when it came to coloring our homework.
- I always remember you wanting to play with us when we were younger. Even after you'd come home from work you'd always have time to bond with us kids.
- You have such a strong testimony. You fought for what was right when everyone in your family didn't understand and now everyone is baptized because of your example. I'm very proud to have such a strong mother.
- I love your get it done attitude. If something needed to be done you'd always say well lets hurry up and do it then. I admire that.
I miss you like crazy and am so exited to see you come July. Love you forever!

Hey D'er Bob
This is what happens when my boss's son Dustin and I get blown up gloves with a smiley face of course from our local fire department. We and by we I mean Dustin because after all he's the one with the mad twisting skills create little balloon men. Meet Bob our mascot. Isn't he cute? Dustin made a flower hat for their rookie to wear and the glove was a "thank you" gift back to demonstrate how creative our fire department can be. Nothing beats having fun while you work.Thursday, June 3, 2010
May, Where Have You Gone?
I am I the only one or did the month of May simply slip away before I had a chance to realize it? June is now here and the heat is finally hitting Las Vegas. We finally broke down last night when our apartment hit 89F and kicked on the A/C. The A/C however decided it didn't want to cooperate so we have to get it repaired soon! Jakob had most of May to enjoy himself which was much needed. That poor man is constantly on the go. He kept himself busy however by creating a new addiction to Lost starting at season one. He's now back in Summer school taking two classes before we head off to Canada in a month. Only 34 days to go!!!! I'm off to girls camp next week, I can't believe it's already here!!
I have been keeping busy with my sudo family. I am so attached to these girls that sometimes I have to remind myself that I'm not their mother and at the end of the day I have to give them back.
Trystan loves going over to Grandma and Grandpa Toblers. She'll run up to me and hop in my lap (normally pushing Seven out of the way) and eagerly ask what our plans our for the day. I'll tell her that we're going to Grandma and Grandpa's and she'll jump up and dance and ask if she can garden with Grandpa or swim with Grandma. She'll ask if Jakob is coming and continue her little dance. Seven will run into the house and say "Heroooo Gama Wober, Bove Boo" It makes me smile.
Trystans new favorite activity is taking pictures. Yes that dear 4 year old took the above picture and loves capturing the world as she sees it. I love going through the pictures she has taken just because she captures what is most important to her like the turtles or her pony toys. Life through the eyes of a 4 year old is a refreshing taste from our worldly cares.
I am so grateful to have these little ones to play with! They have taught me so much about myself as a person and future mother. I love them both dearly!
