Quiet Book Week - Moses

 

  I got the idea for this page from here (you have to scroll down a ways). Now after hunting a round a bit I found one I like better here.

 Moses is sewn to the page. I figured I had enough removable pieces in this book. You could make him detachable if you wanted to. I hand stitched the face on.

This is a weaving page. It's a page for an older child for sure. I Think I am going to add a piece of Velcro to the top unsecured side of the basket so it doesn't flop around when you turn the page. Moses came together pretty quickly. I thin it was my fastest page (approx 2 1/2 hours.)

Quiet Book Week - Rainbow

 

 I essentially copied  this rainbow exactly. I used a salad plate for the original red arch and then I sewed on the orange before I cut the underside of the red. Does that make sense? In summation I didn't cut each color in an arch I didn't think I'd be able to get them even. It was a lot of eye balling. 

 To get the words I printed off a font I liked on the computer and traced it onto the fabric with a disappearing marker. Then I hand stitched on every single word. Yes, this took forever (approx 4 hours) but in the long run it looks so much better than marker and it'll last forever.

 I love the flower snaps they add so much color. The point of this page is to match the colors. The only down size which I didn't think of, is my buttons are pretty small and perfect for choking. This will be a page for when E is quite a bit older. The snaps were also difficult for Vi to do but I'm sure with practice that would be a non issue.

 

Quiet Book Week - Noah's Ark

I just {loved} Laura's animals! So much so that I used the pattern on a few pages. This is one of my favorite pages! I did add a zipper instead of a flap door like Laura.

 I also added color backgrounds to most of my pages which I think really finished them. 

 I also added rain drops. I really think it's in the small details that make the book.

All of the animals. I think I might make a crocodile and a peacock one day.

 I hand stitched on the mouths an eyes. These are also finished both back and front so they look just as nice on either side. May I suggest and bare testimony on SPRAY ADHESIVE! It's $9 from Joanne's I didn't discover it until my Nativity page and it makes a WORLD of difference. Keeps all of those tiny pieces in place without pins! Give it a try! You won't regret it!

My only issue was that even though my ark covers almost the entire page it's still difficult to fit in all of the animals without adding a HUGE amount of bulk. To remedy this I added a zipper pocket in the back of the case to hold all of the extra animals and now only 3 or four animals live in the ark.(More on the case another day.) I am in love with Noah's Ark! My niece Violet really liked this page too!

Quiet Book Week - Jonah and the Whale

 I finally finished my quiet book and boy, let me tell you it was quite the project. I can't even begin to count how many hours went into this. I wanted to make a church quiet book for E and I wanted to get it done before I had no time on my hands. I started this back in January and now 9 months later it is finally complete! Today's page is Jonah and the Whale. While some pages I did make up entirely on my own, others I used a pattern and/ or followed a picture. I received inspiration for the background here and got the pattern here. I mean why reinvent the wheel?

 

Jonah is finished on both sides so he looks just as pretty on the back as he does on the front. I love the zipper mouth!

A Couple of Monkey's

 Yesterday, for our final hooray with Janet and the girls we headed out to Moapa to visit the zoo. They had lots of baby animals to play with! When we first walked in the door there was a baby Roo. Violet named him Joey. I absolutely love Roo's. My Daddy still calls me Roo on occasion and Kangaroo's hold a special place in my heart.

 Ethnie wanted to touch Joey too!

 An anteater. They can eat up to 9,000 ants a day!! Their little mouth only opens up as big as a pencil is round.

 Then we got to the petting area! There were tons of little critters to play with!

 This Leamur LOVED E's stroller and toys. He jumped on her chest a few times and Bug didn't even stir. I'm thankful she's so relaxed!

 Janet sat down and this little monkey decided to hop onto her lap. Looking good Sister!

 Another friend for Ethnie. He took Mommy's keys and his little friend stole our baby wipes. It was quite comical.

 He's eye balling E's peacock, he ended up stealing it. Don't worry it's in the wash and E didn't seem to mind one bit.

 Thanks for rescuing me Aunt Janet!!

 Feeding the Camels some carrots. Vi actually kissed this one but I wasn't fast enough with the camera.

 This is what happens when you have connections to the Zoo. Gramma's friend let her feed the baby bobcat.

Tiptoe the Aardvark. The only Aardvark that can roll up into a complete ball. Super cute!

 It was a wonderful final day! Thanks for taking us to the Zoo Gramma and Aunt Janet! We can't wait to go again! We were so lucky to be able to spend so much time with family! It was so precious to see the cousins together! I am looking forward to our next reunion. We love you guys!!!

Thankful

While returning to Mom Tobler's house after a morning at the Zoo with the little people I was pulled over for the first time in my life. I started to hyper ventilate as I realized my wallet was somewhere in my car and I wasn't exactly sure what I had done wrong. The Police officer came up to my window and said "Miss, you can't be driving like that! You didn't come to a full stop at two stop signs, you have a burnt out tail light, you were following too close and you were going 51 in a 45. Now if I give you one ticket I have to give you them all and I don't really want to do that so please be careful!" I thanked him profusely and very carefully drove the extra 100 yards into Mom's complex. Needless to say there will be no more California Rolls for me! Thank you nice Police man, Thank you!!! 

Cheer Baby

As I'm sure you can tell once upon a time I was a cheerleader. I never really got to dance and cheer was my thing! I was asking Jakob what he thought Bug should wear in some newborn photos and he said a cheer uniform. Sadly it was MUCH too big for her then but here she is now. Disclaimer: No we do not have any ties to Pen State. I was actually going to photo shop the front off and add "Tobler" instead but life has been far to busy lately. I chose this color because it was Daddy's high school colors.

She wouldn't stop eating the home made pom pom so this is the only shot we got with it.

I just love her facial expressions. This girl is just bubbling with personality!
