Friday Fun

Monday:

Play Doh! Still a favorite in this family! E is getting more and more creative and Duke is almost keeping it out of his mouth. Play Doh is my go to when I need to get some things done.

Tuesday:

For the most part Craft time happens when Duke is sleeping. We've started incorporating him into our craft times but it's still fun just to have some girl time. E is a huge fan of the ocean right now with her favorite show being Octanauts, and her favorite movie being Ariel so we made a jelly fish out of a paper plate and some ribbon. I just love having stashes of things!

Wednesday:

 

We now have a new little person in our lives. This is Greta and she is with us three times a week. She is 4 1/2 months old and is just the sweetest little girl in the world. It is so nice having a baby in the house once again. I totally miss the snuggles and little coos. My favorite things hands down is watching Duke and E with her. Duke is super soft and though he gets jealous at times he is a really good helper bringing her toys when she's sad and patting her on the head very softly. E is a great helper and it makes me excited that I will have helping hands when we decided to add a third edition to our home. 

Thursday:

The kids love hide and seek and Duke is really good at finding hiding places and being quiet. He is also really good at finding people. I couldn't help but giggle when I saw these tiny toes hanging out from under the door. So cute! This is another great game to play while I pick up the house and replace items to their proper home while I look for babies. 

Friday:

We broke out the toilet paper stamps and some paint. E was really good with it.

Duke not so much, but at least he was painting on the paper. 

Way to go E!

Yeah, painting on the paper got old quick. Such a boy, such a mess, such a cutie! Love being these kiddos Mama!

Friday Fun

I have decided to bring back the Friday Fun Posts. I never meant for them to stop but life has a way of being a bother. So here is our Friday Fun Post for this week!

Monday:

I once again put paint in Ziploc baggies and decided to let the kids goof around with it. They liked it for about 10 seconds and then Duke was trying to rip it apart. This is our second attempt at this craft and it has bombed both times.

Tuesday:

It was a BIG fort day!! We grabbed just about every blanket in the house and had  them covering the table and all the chairs and then we made a nice little bed inside. We grabbed our lanterns, stories and puzzles and had an afternoon in another little world.

Wednesday:

We spent the afternoon jumping on the mattresses! This is the greatest activity EVER especially if I want to get a few things done while they just play!

Thursday:

I had the harsh realization the other day that I really do not craft with Duke at all. He is more than capable I just don't ever think about doing crafty things with him. That is mine and E's thing, SO I brought out Q-tip painting which was awesome when E was his age! 

 He loved it!! And it was SOOO cute watching him just paint away!

Friday:

For some reason the kids {love} playing with my carpet in the living room. They will roll it up, climb under it, have one lay under and the other will jump on top of them, ya know, kid stuff. As long as they are happy and playing together I'm calling it a win and I don't interfere.

A Night in the 20's

This month Jakob's company had a table at a 20's Gala. We were to dress in 20's attire and I was so excited. First thing first.... do my hair (which is now down to my belly button). It was a daunting task but after watching a few YouTube video's I was ready to try. First thing, curl hair but pin curls up as they curl to keep in the most bounce as possible.

Next, let curls down and reconsider going any further.

Lastly start pinning up your hair, add a head band and go to town. I used every single bobby pin I owned. I was even searching the house, under beds, in the couch for MORE bobby pins. It was humorous
.

Finally, Admire the two hour hair do! I was so in love with it!!!

Add some  a lot of makeup, pearls, tassels and a hair feather and we were off!

 We had such a fun night. Jakob rocked a vest that we found at Savers for $5. Gotta love Savers!

Richard the Aussie, works with Jakob at Tortoise. He is a funny chap. It was so nice to spend an evening with grown ups!

There was great food, dancing and best of all spending an evening with my man! I just love getting dressed up and date nights!

Unicorn

 One day I was in a meeting with my activities committee. It was at my house and Jakob had taken the kids down stairs to play so that we could have our meeting in peace. It was a BIG meeting, our first one, and we had a LOT to plan, which took almost 2 hours. During that time I heard a few screams from down stairs and I took a peak at the clock and mentioned it was bed time. One of the sisters asked if I needed to put my kids to bed. I told her that Jakob would take care of it and returned to writing down notes on my paper. She scoffed and said "My husband would never put my kids to bed!" Before I could answer her another newly wed sister said "Men are either horses, donkey's or mules. Horses can be trained but still at times put up a fight, donkey's are just bums, and a mule is a bit of both." Without skipping a beat I smiled and said "Then my husband is a unicorn!" (In the most un-gay way imaginable!) Jakob almost walks on water! He is so supportive, respects my space, my thoughts, my feelings and my desires, he works hard for our family, and he is an amazing Father who I rely on with my children. We co-parent and I am amazed at how many people I run into just simply don't. Their husbands don't help with bath or bed, they don't help feed, or punish, or do the stuff that is hard. Jakob and I are partners 100% of the way, we serve each other, and he is my unicorn. He is incredible!

 

 The other day was a hard one as all mothers know. The kind where kids are loud, the house is a mess and things just don't seem to go as planned. It was Friday and things had been busy for Jakob at work. I figured that he would be working late and that the errands that I had wanted to get done would have to wait until later the next day. Just before nap time was over, Jakob came home... early! I was so surprised. He hugged me and asked how he could help. I explained that I had a few errands I needed to run and he gladly said that he would take care of dinner and do bed time and for me to take my time. I went out to the car and started to drive away when I realized I had a flat tire.

 Jakob very calmly put the tire back on and fixed the car up and once again sent me one my way. 

He didn't call saying that the kids were wild and for me to come home, or that he couldn't do dinner, he took care of life at home and I came back to food and just in time to help with singing time as the kids went to bed. My husband is amazing and while he is not perfect I am SO thankful for all that he does to help and to love me. I couldn't imagine anyone better! I have been so incredibly blessed!

Pancakes

 Some days I wonder what we were thinking. For FHE one evening we decided to make fun pancakes. Let me tell you, there is a total learning curve, but gosh darn it we had fun! Here is my first attempt at Mickey Mouse.

 It required two flippers.

It's light but it is Homer Simpson. So things we learned: 1. Blend the batter. 2. Tip size matters and you want to go with a medium hole. 3. HOT PAN! Or a flat grill would be nice. Needless to say we had fun, the kids loved it and we will be doing it again!

The Renaissance Fair

Saturday morning Jakob woke up and said "Hey, get ready, we're going to a Ren Fair!" I love it when he plans things and I was super stoked to go explore the KC Ren Fair. They had SO many cute things for the kids to do. There was a cute knighting session with the king, tea with the queen, fencing and lots of other things and even with all of these things my kids just wanted to play on the wooden Pirate ship.

Once we finally left the kids area we started to explore. We will be leaving the kids next time, since they wouldn't sit still for very long. There were 30 stages all with continuous entertainment.

Duke really liked these ladies who were singing. 

Then Daddy got a turkey leg. It was delicious and we took WAY too many pictures of us eating it.

Nothing like sharing some meat. It was a super fun day and I look forward to going again next year!
