Duke's 5th Birthday

At long last we get to celebrate Duke!!

Dinosaur cake as per his exact specifications.

Dinosaur tails for our guests.

We made up some dinosaur eggs for our guests as well.

I'm really pleased with how the pinata turned out.

This bunting was super quick to make and we got a lot of compliments on it! So cute!

Waiting for our friends!

I am completely obsessed with this wrapping paper.

Umm, these little tails! Be still my heart!!

Dinosaur face paints. :)

We did a bone hunt, and built a dinosaur.

And some magic!

And we broke our pinata.

Happy birthday sweet beautiful boy!

And then we hatched an egg...

... and they got baby dinosaurs!

We had such a wonderful afternoon and we are so thankful to everyone who came to help celebrate Duke. We have the best friends!!

Dinosaur Cake

I had grand ambitions for this cake and volunteered Jakob to help. Of all my cakes, this was the first one that Jakob ever helped me with. He did a great job carving.

And then I went and ruined everything. I didn't make enough blue fondant and we didn't have enough to stretch it over. Once it was done, Jakob and I hated it! We were so disappointed.

So we decided to add some dirt and some rocks to cover up the tray and all of a sudden we liked it. :) It really pulled it together.

And then there was Duke who loved it and that was all that mattered. Let the party begin!

Pinata Prep

Duke wanted a dinosaur pinata and I was a bit nervous to tackle such a feat.

I used toilet paper rolls for feet, tin foil for the tail. Balloons for the head and body and cardboard for the horns and neck shield.

Paper mache had to be done in stages so that the neck wouldn't collapse with the weight.

I did three layers of mache trying to make it sturdy enough for battle.

I put Daddy in charge of painting.

We also made up some eggs for the children. They will have little dinosaurs in them.

E painted her own egg with an owl on it of course.

So cute! I love how it turned out and even better yet, Duke love it! Can't wait to party!

Blade & Timber

We kicked off September with a date night to Blade & Timber to go axe throwing and my word. It was so fun! We got to go with Megan & Brandon and Laura & Matt which was awesome since we've been trying to do something together for awhile now but schedules never worked out.

 Photo booth shenanigans.

Jakob was an incredible shot. Like bullseye almost every time. You also got 10 points if you could hit the blue dot, which he did! It was pretty masculine.
Myself on the other hand. I hit the bullseye my first time, and I was feeling pretty cocky. Then bam, I couldn't even get it to stick in the board for almost the rest of the night. Our "coach" said it had to do with me standing too close.

We played a game boys against girls and I had the game winning throw. So bullseye to start out, and then nothing... and then game winning throw. I say I come through at clutch time. Haha.

It was a fun date night and I'm so glad that we get to know more people in the ward.
