First Swim

 How grateful I am that Papa & Gram have a pool. Not only is it a pool, it's a heated pool. With COVID-19 the city decided not to open the public pools this year. Last year we were at the pool 4- 5 days a week. Papa opened the pool and we were all THIRLLED!

Roo loved the water! He was smiling the whole time!

 Sprout was quite the fish! 

So much joy! Thank you Papa for having us over! I can't wait for all the fun memories!

Tobler Family Summer Camp (TFSC) - Week 1 - Spy Week

 Last year my friend Laura posted about doing a family summer camp and her ideas were just THE cutest. That woman is ALL the mom goals, so thank you Laura for the inspiration. With the world being shut down I knew our summer was going to look very different this year and I wanted the kids to still have things to look forward to. I decided to do summer camp five days a week for about an hour each day. some days were longer other days were shorter. I knew that I wanted to be more intentional with my parenting and it turns out this was something that we ALL looked forward to every day! My other stipulation was, I didn't want it to be be expensive. I knew that I could really get out of control if I wanted to, so I aimed to use things we already had on hand. I also wanted to show the kids that we could have fun without spending money. I knew that if I wasn't prepared I wouldn't do this, so I sat down and wrote out a calendar full of activities for each day so I knew what I was doing on what days. It really took the guess work out of it and eliminated the "what should we do today" stress. If I saw the idea on a Pinterest board I wrote that on my calendar so I could find it later. Some weeks worked out flawlessly and other weeks we needed to adjust a bit. So here is WEEK ONE - SPY WEEK!

 Day 1: Create a Secret Identity & Training

 

 Introducing Agents Sophia Black, Blippi Rainbow and Max Green. 

 

A spy needs to be able to work under pressure and be agile. This lazer maze put out spy's skills to the test!

 

 Day 2: Interrogation Techniques. A spy needs to learn how to interrogate people. We played 20 questions.

Day 3: Learn to Decode and Write Secret Messages. This was so dang fun and I learned a lot in the process as well. The kids then wrote secret notes to Oma and Grammy and Pa. Such a fun day!

Day 4: Field Training and Target Practice. A spy is able to build things with things the have around them. The kids were each assigned to make a target out of things we had at home. They then worked on their shooting skills and shot the targets.

Day 4: Spy's are Observant. The kids had to team up and find all of the items on this list. This was a good time fro Mama to clean headquarters.

Day 5: Secret Mission. Someone had stolen a treasure from headquarters. This kids had to follow the clues and use their skills to figure out who had stolen the loot and where to find them. 

 It was Daddy!!!

Mission complete. I think one of the kids favorite parts of the week was getting their passports stamped after every activity was completed. This was such a fun week to kick Summer Camp off with!

7 Months

- Look who's sitting up!!!! I mean oh my gosh, I am completely obsessed!!!! 

- Reddrick has a voice and he knows how to use it. He is yelling alllllll the time. Especially for food. If he is in his high chair, he is yelling. No food on the the tray, yelling. Food on the tray, yelling. He likes to be heard!

- He has started some solid foods and he is loving it. He wants food all day every day. He is still nursing a lot, but food is quickly becoming his main food source. 

- He is rolling everywhere and has started army crawling and pushing himself up onto his knees. He drags one little leg behind him and Daddy says it's like he got shot in that leg. He's getting pretty quick and our house is slowly becoming more and more accessible.

- He has lightning fast hands. If it is within his reach, it's his. It's an especially fun game with plates of food, or drinking cups. 

- Redd loves being naked. Clothes off, diaper off, FREEEEDOM!!!!!!!

- We are still trying with the sue. He with take it or leave it. He usually uses it to fall asleep at night then spits it out. He does not like it when Daddy tries to give it back to him at night instead of Mama coming in and nursing him. It will come eventually. 

- He loves his fox blanket that Mama made him and it makes my heart so happy!

- I think I have officially converted the entire family and some friends to calling him Roo. (or Roo, Roo) Fun fact, my Daddy used to call me Roo. If we had a little girl I wanted her middle name to be Roux to keep that name in the family. When I was pregnant with Redd I started calling him Reddy-Roo. It wasn't intentional and it almost felt odd because that was MY name. It was one thing to have a middle name that we would use on occasion, but a nickname was perhaps a little close to home. But it stuck and it suits him well and now I have Mama Roo and little Roo and it is just so Redd.

- Reddrick has this yell and it sounds exactly like Skuttle from Little Mermaid. It part yelling, part singing and part gargling and it is hilarious and obnoxious at the same time.

This months updates are few, but our love for this beautiful boy knows no bounds! He is incredible and we love him more than words. And now.... more pictures. :)
