Valentines Week

This year I really wanted to try and minimize Valentines week this year. I tend to try and make things bigger and bigger and my kids expectations were getting a bit out of control. I also knew that I didn't want the kids to have a ton of candy. So this year I made up the que cards and went small and simple for the kids and honestly, it was perfect.

Then every day we had an activity and seriously these were even better than the treats. We made heart shaped cocoa bombs.

Super simple stained glass paper towel art.

Heart shaped pink pancakes.

Our Home Depot Craft.

We made bath bombs. They were so fun!

We made a fun fort.

Jakob's just keep getting naughtier and naughtier, so I'll share the PG versions. He got a skip rope to help with our fitness goals.

He also got a Ocean Panther shirt. He loves Otters and this was a home run for him!

We had our first annual formal dinner. Jakob made the bourbon glazed pork chops and holy Moses they were incredible!!

Everyone got all dressed up and we lit some candles.

Jakob truly out did himself!
I decided to make a cake and it was not turning out as expected. Just as I was on the brink of tears Sprout came up to me and asked if he could help. We had a fantastic time sitting together giggling while he made his cake and while it is absolutely not perfect, this cake means a lot to me!

Happy Valentines Day! These guys are my whole world.

Super Bowl

It's Super Bowl weekend and man, this city is hyped! And while we didn't end up winning I am so dang proud of the team and the coaching staff. It is so fun being able to know some people in the franchise and cheer them on! We are proud to be Chiefs fans! And on the flip side, so proud of Tom Brady and what he's done!!! Very cool! I loved these little crafts the kids did!

Game day ready!

Go Chiefs GO!

Leanne & Family come to KC

We had some visitors come up from Dallas to stay with us for a week and we were SO excited! Leanne and her crew were such amazing guests! We had a ball!

They happened to be coming the week before the Super Bowl which meant that KC was at it's greatest. First stop was to Union Station and Science City.

LET'S GO CHIEFS!

It was our first time seeing the train exhibits and they were AMAZING!

And while we were downtown we took some pictures.

Leanne & Ben are Patriots fans but it was still fun to show off KC a bit :)

Fancy hats at school!
Baby Daphne was the cutest baby and gave the best snuggles.

We headed down to the Plaza to explore a bit and it was freezing.

I am so obsessed with these pictures though. So dang cute!

Daphne was losing her little marbles in the car, so we stopped so she could nurse and I took these two to explore the Nelson-Akins Grounds.

The two youngest great-grandchildren. (Currently)

We had nightly glow stick dance parties.

We had a daily craft.

We explored some parks.

And Leanne helped me update some lights!

WE wanted to ride the carousel, but it was closed so the kids went up and down the escalator probably 20 times.

More crafts.

We played in the snow for a bit. Snow is magical.

And we had tasting competitions. Ben got all 6 flavors right and it blew our minds! WE had such a great time and as Leanne and the crew pulled out of the driveway, I just brow down crying. I'm so grateful for family. Such a great week!
