Baseball

Another thing from my childhood that I loved was baseball games at G-ma's house. The whole family would get into it. G-ma had a (what I though at the time was) big backyard. G-ma would pitch we would run and we had basemen, out fielders and a umpire. It was great fun!

So when I suggested that we have a game of ball G-ma was happy to oblige.

Bea was pretty good at bat!

It's amaing how children make you feel young. G-ma was running bases on her sore leg.

Daddy had to book it!

Diving for first!

G-pa and Duke as back catcher and umpire!

E was pretty quick to tag you out!

G-pa up to bat!!

G-ma is up again!

Good hustle team!

Time for root beer floats!! Oh sweet summertime!

Calgary

Jakob arrived later Thursday night and we headed off for Calgary the next morning.

It was so wonderful to see Melanie and her husband Mike! They are super sweet! I am loving having a sister. Mel also invited our Aunt Connie who is my Dad's Mom's twin sister. It was so wonderful hearing her talk about Daddy. She said that he was the happiest boy and that she had fond memories of coming home from work and him running up to her. How they would play. Dad moved to Canada when he was 3 from Holland with his mother. His mother got remarried to Tony when he was 5 of six and they moved away from Calgary and Aunt Connie didn't see much of Dad anymore. She kept telling me how I reminded her of him and how I looked just like him. It made my heart happy. Our cousin Peter was also there (Connie's Son) and he was also super sweet. It was so wonderful to spend time with a small part of Dad's side of the family. I've never gotten to do that before.

E was happy as could be coloring away.

Sprout was a champ. After having a massive blow out at Mel's which resulted is throwing away the outfit he was wearing and a full on tub time we loaded up again to get back to Edmonton. The drive was 3 hours each way and the kids did such a great job and Sprout slept the whole way!!

We came home and got some Donair pizza!!!!

And some Donairs! So amazing!!!!!

It was sch a great day! My heart is full!!!

Snaggle Tooth

While we were in Canada E lost her tooth. It was hanging by a thread and E was hysterical. After listening to her scream for 45 minutes I handed her over to Oma. She did say the funniest things while she was hysterical though, one of them being "This hurts so bad and is the WORST! DAY! EVER! and you won't stop laughing at me!" I tried not to laugh but it was hilarious!

Oma go all sneaky and bumped E's arm while she was wiggling her tooth and it popped right out. Way to go Oma!

Judging by the way these two teeth are coming in, we better start saving for braces. :)

Great-G-Pa's Brithday

Please excuse the picture overload, but really I'm not sorry, I could hardly pick my favorites since to me at least they were all so gosh darn cute.

We celebrated G-pa's birthday over the course of a few days. Tim and Carolyn were leaving and so we celebrated with them and then we did cake and such again on his actual birthday.

G-pa was obsessed with Leif and Duke. He wanted to be holding Leif all day every day and it was adorable. Duke was totally G-pa's buddy and didn't hardly leave his side showing him his toys and snuggling. It made my heart melt!

3 of the five (soon to be six great-grandchildren.)

I always say that G-pa has bear paws. His hands can curl around mine and I just love them. This picture makes my heart so happy.

We went to G-pa and G-ma's house for the party. Duke was pretty excited to find Jesus!

Jared brought his dog Koda. She is beautiful but still acts like a puppy and E was pretty scared of her when she was all riled up.

So Uncle Tim saved her and carried her safely across the yard.

The gang! G-ma, Tim, Carol, Debbie, Ashley, G-pa, Mama, Sprout, Chris, Michael, Calvin and Jared.

The birthday boy!
Three of the four children (missing Brendalee.)

Happy Birthday to you!

We we were singing Happy Birthday and G-pa went to blow out the candle....

When little Duke's face popped in and blew it out for him. It was so gosh darn funny. Carol was pretty upset and re-lit it, and Duke blew it out again, so she re-lit it again, and E blew it out. I couldn't stop laughing. Auntie was not impressed.

So much love!!

We came back to share some cake two days later.

This time the kids helped without anyone getting upset. :)

These two melt my heart!

Duke was happy to help open some chocolate.

And then we played catch in the kitchen like it was no big thing.

It was so wonderful and I am so glad that we were able to come back and spend some quality time with G-ma and G-pa. I have such fond memories of spending weeks at a time at G-ma's house and I'm so glad that my kids get to make their own memories with them!
