The Dress

 I loved Ethnie's dress so much I decided it need it's very own post! It turned out better than I had even hoped! I mean seriously check that kid out. (For original post and instructions click here.)

 The original blog post over at Heart Break Kids was made for a child larger than Ethnie. So we changed a few things. Firstly we made everything much simpler by just adding a skirt to a onesie! We also roll hemmed the edges on the surger. Quick, simple and beautiful!

 The bum is my favorite part! I mean really I'm Canadian and I am in love! We also did all of the gathers on the surger! So quick! We didn't stitch the belt on because we didn't want to loose the stretch of the cotton. Ethnie is barely squeezing into her 3-6 month outfits at 4 1/2 months, stretch was necessary! So to keep the belt in place we added a few loops.

 That's my little American girl. She wore her dress to church on Sunday and got a lot of compliments on it. It was super simple, a little bit time consuming (approx 6+ hours) but like I said I am very pleased with the end result. 

 Mom Tobler suggested adding a few stars to her tushy. You can't really see them when she wears it but I think it gives it that extra kick!

I hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July!! I know our little American Girl sure did!!

The 4th

 We most certainly had a very full 4th of July celebration. I love holidays, I especially love holidays that Jakob gets off of work so we get to spend some time together. Like last year, Jakob and I were in the Summerlin Parade. Ethnie decided to freak out all night long the night before so we were a little bit sleepy. Jakob was Captain America again only this year he was a little more famous. I suppose having two movies over the course of the year helped quite a bit. I was an assistant supervisor, directing characters to be in the right place at the right time.

 Since Ariel couldn't exactly walk to her float Captain America had to carry her. People got quite a laugh and kept on shouting "Nice work Captain."

 Everyone wanted a picture with Captain America. He even got a proposal. Golly, I had better watch out!! 

 Since we were in the parade, Gramma and Grampa graciously took Ethnie to watch from the side lines. 

 She sure does love her Grampa.

 Here we go! 

 The Star Wars fleet was a hit as per usual! Everyone was ranting and raving about them. I must admit they are pretty impressive!

 Poor Peanut. It was hot and humid and someone just couldn't stay awake long enough to see Daddy go by, That's okay, there's always next year. She'll be walking and starting to talk by then! Good Gravy!!

We then had a 2:00 p.m. lunch with the Waggoners. It was lovely. The night before Jakob came home from work and told me that he received 4 comp tickets to Celine Dion and asked if I wanted to go. I promptly called Mom, who promptly called the Waggoners, who graciously agreed to making dinner earlier and then agreed to babysit for the evening. So I would like to give a shout out to them! Thank you for being so wonderful and watching Ethnie for us! I truly appreciate it!!! It was my first time leaving her with non-family (She did stay at the Terry's for the day a few times while Jakob studied but Jakob was less than five minutes away if necessary.) Mom and Dad were teasing me because I was a little bit nervous even though I knew the Waggoners were beyond qualified and would probably give her more attention than I would. 

 We got all dressed up, after all this was an occasion, and headed down to Ceasers Palace to see the show. We were on the first balcony in the back row, not close enough to see her facial expressions but far enough back to see all of the lighting effects and so forth. It was very nice! Celine put on a wonderful show!!

 Dad happened to get a few compliments on his tux, they were all from men, but that really doesn't matter. :)

 It was a wodnerful evening followed up by fireworks lighting up the city on the drive home. I am very thankful to live in such a beautiful country with my darling husband and his family. We are so blessed in every single way and I am so thankful for the men and women who sacrifice for our freedom! I know I put on a Canadian show a lot of the time, and Canada will always be my home. Nevertheless and I very proud to live in the United States. 

Bare Booty!

The cutest tushy around. Just look at all of those wrinkles!!! Someone decided to flip over during her diaper change. She really likes the wipes container for some reason. She couldn't get all the way over on her own but it was pretty close. Now that she's not so intimidated by tummy time I'm sure she'll be rolling before I know it! Love her!

Canada Day!

 Yesterday we were able to attend a Canada Day celebration hosted by the Richards. I have been looking forward to this party for quite some time. I love celebrating Canada Day. There was a contest for "Most Canadian." It would have been pretty sad if I didn't win since I am Canadian. Even though it was 104°F (40°C) I had to go all out with hoodie, touque, and mitts. Jakob wore his evolution of a Canadian t-shirt and his custom made maple leaf belt buckle (thanks Sister Kayla Needham (she's currently serving a mission)). Ethnie had a onesie that said "Canadian Cutie" on it and a little tutu.

 There were a few Canadian delicacies served one being poutine. Some assembly was required. First set out fries. 

Britni mixed up the next two steps but who can blame her she's American ;). Step two: sprinkle cheese. I have mine sans cheese.

 Step three: Pour piping hot gravy over cheese to achieve melted yummy-ness.

Yummm.

 There were also some Ketchup chips sent down from up North. 

 Jakob liked the gravy so much that he put some on his burger. What a strange fellow.

 I don't think this thing is ever going to come off. After two baths it still looks good as new.

 Sing O Canada!

 It was only a matter of minutes before that flag was in her mouth. Yummy!

 Everyone then participated in an obsticale course. They started out at "Boarder Control" and had to yell 'I am Canadian!' They then ran to this table to dress up in lumberjack apparel: boots, touque, flannel shirt and facial hair.

Once they were dressed they could hammer in a nail...

 or chop  block of wood in half.

 Once they finished chopping they took off the clothes and headed over to the brain freezer where they were to answer a trivia question about Canada. The pool was filled with ice water.

 Next they had to throw two beavers in the basket and shot a goal. It looked like a lot of fun (Ethnie freaked out in the middle so I didn't participate.)

 I got the play with my camera a bit! It was lots of fun! 

 It was an awesome Canada day! I had such a wonderful time celebrating a country that means so much to me! Thank you to the Richards for hosting such a wonderful party! Happy Canada Day Eh?!
